Are the 05+ mustang plugs different than a normal plug? A friend of mine was telling me someone he works with was talking about our plugs being a 2 piece plug and the dealer actually dropped an electrode into the cylinder. Is this true? Are there any special things I should know being swapping plugs?

The plugs are very different and are a 2 piece design. You don't have to worry about the 2 pieces separating unless the plug gets stuck in the head. It's a real good idea to remove the plugs every 10k miles or so and lubricate the barrel section and threaded section with nickel anti-seize. That will insure they don't get stuck in the heads.

I think the best advice is to replace the POS 2 piece stockers with new one piece ones. But as many others have stated, you risk breaking the old ones off into the head. Do a search. There are many threads on this very diconcerting issue.

Yup, one of the most discussed topics on ANY Mustang forum that doing just a little searching would provide anyone with all the info they could ever want.

I figure it this way, the plugs aren't due to be replaced until 100,000 miles.
I probably won't even own the car by then and besides the amount of driving I do, 5,000 miles or less per year, it will take forever to reach 100,000 miles.

If the motors running, leave the hood down!
