Exactly! Everywhere I turn there's always one of those cars, and they act like it's the fastest thing ever made! Hmm, let's see, 170HP, weighs 3,500 pounds...yeah don't think so. I get a fair amount of people wanting to race me, but it's always Civics, Integras, 240SX's, Eclipses, and other garbage. I never have a Camaro or another Mustang pull up to me and give a rev. But the other day I was coming off an offramp an was sitting there waiting for the light to turn green, when I see this black Fox Body GT pull up behind me. He revved it high once, I looked in the rearview and he was smiling and gave a thumbs up, I gave one back. It's rare, but it's great when it happens.
This is what I like to see. I hate the revving (usually a sign of acknowledgement) has such a negative stigma attached to it now. I'm sure it's because nowadays you have the wrong people revving. I'll leave it at that.
I think that the coupe style mustang, specifically, is known for drag racing. It seems to be the body of choice for the lighter weight, solid trunk, etc. Maybe people just see it that way.
I always got more attention in the 5.0 than i did in my '03. Don't get me wrong, when i'm out in my '03 i still get idiots revving at me and trying to race me, but in the 5.0 i just got more attention.
The first warm day last spring I took my vert over to a town about an hour away for a little drive and some shopping. At a stoplight I was behind a Porsche Boxster with a soccer mom and two kids next to me. As I look over at the kids I see that both of them aren't staring at the Porsche but at my car. The best part was when the light changed I saw one of them say "wow mustang" before said soccer mom drove off. Its amazing how the fox's will draw looks from people. This was asked a few years ago, but when driving out of town and you pass another fox do you give them the biker wave? (just hold your hand out like the harley guys do)
there's a dark blue gt that i keep seeing every time i on my way to work...tomm i gonna leave a little early and maybe ill be able to catch the owner and talk to him. if the windows down i do..if not i give em a nod....if im at a light...i give em a rev.
I thought I was insane, guys in the suburbs, when I go over to shows/events near Chicago, waving at me. I haven't lived there in 10 years, don't know that many people who would wave to me(in a friendly way). I thought they were waving cuz they thought I was someone they knew with a 5.0 like mine. I always wave back- live near Chicago, make em mad, they might start shooting!
