My mustang, over the years, has come in contact with some unfortunate bumps and bruises and it's about that time to replace the hood and bumpers, with a complete repaint. I was looking at a few different options to make her stand out, but unfortunately most body kits out there for mustangs are horrendous. I've only come up with a few I like and wanted this forum's input on the subject. So tell me what you think, or if you have any suggestions on any other kits please let me know. First off, for ONLY THE FRONT BUMPER COVER (the rest is pretty ugly IMO): The Stalker Kit Second, possibly on the rear bumper, and my second choice for front bumper: The Saleen Kit I really don't want the car to look like a Faleen, however, thus the idea of combining the front stalker bumper with the rear saleen bumper. Also, I might go with a stock hood, or possibly an '03 Cobra hood: And lastly, I'm thinking of painting her Lemans Blue with double white racing stripes, like the old Shelby Cobras back in the late '60s.
Meh, I'm not cloning (though I am about halfway to victory on my KB 2.1 fund ) so I don't want to advertise it as a Cobra... however I haven't yet looked at the Roush kit
Cobra front ends still look sick though, and IMO since you aren't badging it as a cobra you aren't Fobra'ing it either. I'd say do a 04 Cobra front bumper with whatever rear bumper you prefer. That stalker kit is ricier than uncle ben. Also 03 cobra hoods are sick as hell and you should definitely get that.
Compared to most of the kits out there, that stalker kit was a very welcome relief... but I just couldn't decide if I liked it or not each time I went back and looked at it. Anywho thanks for the info... I always liked that cobra front bumper.
id go saleen or roush if i were in your shoes...however, the saleen quality is poor so i hear. i went a bit of a different route....i will make some changes down the road but only because it will make working on the car eaiser.
I saw a stalker kit on a yellow stang the other day. It wasn't very impressive to say the least. I think it looks worse in person than the photos. I'd get a Saleen bumper or suggest Cobra bumper. Get what you want. Many say my Cobra R bumper is rice because it's not a real R and doesn't have the wing. I'd stay away from the Cobra R bumper though. Otherwise you'll end up looking like this:
It's sure hard to beat a stock front end with a Mach 1 lip spoiler. Add the '03 Cobra type hood with the stripes. You got it made. I like the stock look. If you have to go with a body kit, I'd take Roush. They are more subtle. Even Saleen is too ricey boy racer looking for me. I like their side scoops though. The Stalker doesn't look too bad on Fox bodies, but it looks gay on SN95's.
Okay, after thorough research, with lots of computers whizzing and such... I've narrowed it down to either getting a Roush kit, or trying to repair my stock rear fascia (it's not that bad) and going either stock with the chin spoiler or cobra for front. Or at least that's what I had decided until I saw this immense beauty... OMG!!!!!! What is this?!?! And moreover where do I get it?!?!?! It's SOOOO sexy.
That was one of the "tuner" stangs like roush and saleen. The concept just never took off I guess. It was in a magazine feature years ago...I have the article somewhere.
