I'm unsure if this story ever made it onto the forum, but I actually remember it from back when it happened.

In 2002, a guy listed a Mustang for sale. His mother took some would be purchasers to his workplace, where he could show the car. A test drive happened and the owner was then murdered. The car was found a few days later after having been abandoned (the murderer also tried to light the car on fire). It was something we took note of, as my father was selling an 87 GT at the time.

10 years later, the car was actually cleared to be released to the family. The murdered kids younger brother goes to my fathers school, and in hearing he was going to hire someone to get the car, my father offered our truck/trailer and man power. We went and took the car from the police headquarters to the kids house.

It really hits home when looking the car over that sections of the body were to be cut, or were cut for evidence. The seats were taken in for evidence, and the interior had a soot all over. All in all the cars very salvagable, and thats the intent of the younger brother, to rebuild it back to running and driving condition, as an honor to his brother.

With that being said, he is looking for some used parts. As of right now it needs two grey front seats (its an 89, with a grey interior) a fan shroud (also cut for evidence), front GT bumper (cut for evidence), rear GT bumper, drivers side front fender, and I am sure other items will be needed once he can dig into the car.

Normally these types of things are seen on TV and make you wonder whats wrong with some people, but actually sitting in and working around the car, it really does hit home. A young Navy vey, just selling his car ends up beaten and killed in the woods. It's truly sad and I would love to be able to help the younger brother out in any way that I can.

Here are some articles.

There are lots of items that come up when searching. What really hits a nerve is the fact that when sentenced, the scum bag responded saying it aint over... All of this to steal a car.

Here is the car after we brought it to the house. It has been sitting for 10 years in police custody. It actually shows well for haing sat outside for so long. Motor spins free, oil is free of water and not burnt smelling, no bad rust or rot and the body is fairly straight.

Sorry for my long winded post, but it was a touching thing to be with the mother and brother of the kid getting the car that he was murded over.
