I'm pretty sure there's supposed ot be some type of insulation under the shifter panel, cuz right now there's heat coming up through there, but i haven't ever seen anything like that on ebay, so where should i look for it??

I dont remember seeing any insulation underneath my shifter panel when I pulled the motor/tranny. Perhaps I am wrong though.

Is the transmission and automatic or a manual?

no there is a rubber boot, then the leather boot. No insulation, it would probably interfere with the shifter. Make sure you cat shield hasnt fallen off, that will cause heat from the cat to rise up in the shifter hole.

could probably even modify some heat wrap to create a heat barrier before the rubber boot.

The sierras use a big foam insert to deaden noise and a rubber boot over that and last the boot cover that is visible. works well.

i didnt have the rubber boot when i did my swap.. i only had the leather boot. and i had the same problem with heat coming up throgh the hole. I used rubber placemats doubled up and cut to size. they dont interfear with the shifter and no more heat...
