Yesterday a guy offered me 20k for my '05. I told him no way and I wouldn't let it go for less than 25k. today he is offering 23k. I have put quite a bit of money in this car and it only has 23k miles on it. I just put a spec clutch in yesterday. The other issue is I'm in Macedonia and it is almost impossible for him to get a car like this. Most people think this car is worth 100k. (no joke). Stateside this car is worth around 18-20k and not many people care what you put in it. I never planned to sell it, but if I do I think I should hold out for my price. So tell me, should I take the cash a run like a thief? or hold on to my baby.
hold onto your baby. You'll miss it too much once you sell, plus, you have to figure, the car has a greater value in Macedonia than it does in the states, supply and demand. There are much fewer Mustangs in Macedonia, even fewer modded mustangs, so their value can be very high. You could.. if you think there is enough demand, create a Mustang modding and importing business. You could be the Roush of Macedonia.
What else can you get for 23k? Chances are that whatever it is you would be less satisfied than you are with your current ride. If not, sell it.
The guy called and agreed to pay 25k. He will get the car tomorrow. I'm making arrangements to get a 2010 GT or a GT 500. Not a lot of options for the Cobra and I don't like the interior colors., so I'm leaning toward the Gt and get a supercharger installed before it is shipped over here.
not bad actually - it cost me about half that just to get my shortblock, heads, and headers shipped from Michigan - and there were no oceans to cross.
When he countered, maybe should have countered with a higher price, if they are worth $100k in Macedonia. How much $$ did you put in the car?
It's not worth 100k here, most people THINK it is because most never seen one. There was a brand new Jaguar not far from where I live and someone said to me while I was looking at it "Why are you looking at this POS when you have that? You must understand these people were driving Yugo's 15 years ago and if you had a VW Golf you were considered rich. I spent 6k or so on the car plus it had been wrecked once. It was fixed, but nevertheless.
