I had high hopes of running what I set out to run, I was so desperately seeking a 6.6x in the 1/8th mile. The night before I ran a 6.83 getting in and out of the throttle trying to keep things under control (18 mb vid is: http://s167.photobucket.com/albums/u154/mrpowderkeg/?action=view&current=MVI_0486.flv) . Today I made one run, it went arrow straight, got a 6.703 @102mph, not bad for a warm up run. The next run I brought the car up on the converter, the last yellow comes on, I punch it, and next thing I know I'm hard on the breaks knowing I'm going to hit the guard rail. I ended up breaking my rim at the start. It just destroyed the welds and the outer part of the rim (and tire) came off. And here I thought the stock 8 inch 4 lug axles would give first. It makes me think this street/strip car (really sees way more street duty) needs a break, and I should build a different car for a bracket car.

What are you doing to get her in the 6.? range? NOS? Anyway sorry about your misfortune but would it not be cheaper to buy some real rims ( 1 piece) as apposed to building another car? Hey look at the bright side , now you have an excuse to put a tilt 1 piece front end on:rolleyes:

Ouch!! I agree with itsaMustangtoo, Fix the damage, which looks cosmetic and grab a set of new rear wheels and race-on. Wow, I like steel wheels, I have always used them on my II. I work at a speed shop and I have seen the ugly side of aluminum, never saw a steel wheel failure before!! Looks like a Barts stock car wheel?? Never had much luck with that company (finish problems), never figured one would do that though!!!

! Time for some serious wheels.
Yeah, I won't be racing any more this year, not because I couldn't get it together, but I figure I need better axles, and I'm going to get some Drag lite rims for the thing. Dang all I wanted was a quick street car. Now it's getting ridiculous all the stuff needed to go fast. After this I'm leaving the car as is, and building a different "race car".

BTW, a few more pics of the scene can be seen at http://angellnet.com/DAP/racing/02Sep07/index_4.htm you can actually see the tire starting to come off.

80s i think i was there.thats fuuny, good time i'm lucky i made it i think YEA I MADE IT.ITS ALL COOL lol.DITTO ON THE CAR SUCKS BIG TIME

It's not that bad, I planned on going the the salvage yard today to get some parts, but wouldn't you know it's pouring outside. At this rate, winter will come first, and I'd be better off getting some fiberglass fenders. Oh well...

One more video of a clean 6.70 pass, sorry the camera man kinda sucks. http://s167.photobucket.com/albums/u154/mrpowderkeg/?action=view&current=MVI_0502.flv

Oh and another photographer's view of the case of the missing wheel... http://www.pbase.com/nitroimage/dakota_flat_track_minot_nd&page=2
