Just wanting to put some pic's up. This is the first time that I have used Zaino and I'm pretty pleased with the results. Just got my complete kit in yesterday. I was able to get one coat on today and will put two coats on tomorrow.

Anyone have any good suggestions on washing with hard water. :notnice: :notnice:

Get the Mr Clean Autodry wash. It uses pur filters (or one of them brands) to filter out the impurities in the water when you put it on the "autodry" setting. I have hard water and when I started using the autodry I didn't even feel the need to wax, because it did such a good job. Just do a section at a time, then go back over the whole car on the autodry setting. And of course, make sure you use a good mitt, not a cheap one.

Yes, the Zanio is great. The color seems to really 'pop" after the third coat. Plus, I have noticed that it does not attract dust like the other waxes.

I also own a black Mustang GT and the black looks great !

Sent a email to Zaino about dealing with the hard water. Sal Zaino sent me the following response.

    ////
You can not let water evaporate on the surface, no matter what kind of
wax or polish you are using. Never wash a car, especially dark colors in
direct sunlight. Try to wash your car in the morning or late afternoon or
evening... Never wash or use cold water on a hot paint surface.
You must dry the car very well after washing. Another great tip is to
use a Toro 210mph Electric leaf blower. Dries your car in about 5 minutes.... without even touching the paint surface.... If you car gets caught in the rain and the rain drop evaporate on the surface, immediate action must follow by washing the car and use the Z-6 to remove fresh water spots, that is one of the uses of Z-6. Most 'fresh' mineral deposits (water spotting, acid rain, etc.) can be removed with Z-7 Show Car Wash or Z-6 Gloss Enhancer spray. If they have been on the car for a while and Z-6 or Z-7 will not remove them.

Use household white vinegar full strength. This is acetic acid and will
loosen and remove the mineral deposits and not harm the paint surface. Most of the time, the water spot etching you see is simply the hardened mineral deposit, giving the illusion of etching into the paint. Believe me, when these
mineral deposits harden. They become really tough and hard to remove. The trick is to not give them a chance to harden. If the above fails, then use the Z-18 ClayBar to remove them....

If those water spots on your car have been there for a while. They might
be already etched into the clear coat. If Z-18 ClayBar will not remove
them. Then what you are seeing is an etched spot in the paint surface.
Although, I am totally against using an abrasive product on todays clear coated finishes. It seems like, in your specific situation, you don't
have a choice. I would try 3M Foam Polishing Pad Glaze Swirl Mark Remover
part #39009 by hand, not by machine, using very light pressure. This should do the trick. Be careful when doing this and only do the water spot areas, as the 3M is abrasive and will remove paint material. Don't forget to reapply Z-5 or Z-2 as the 3M products will remove any polish. If you opt to go with the 3M Foam Polishing Pad Glaze... see following tips...

3M Foam Polishing Pad Glaze use By hand:

Simply apply a small amount (about the size of a quarter) to a cotton
diaper or piece of cotton towel and rub back and forth into about a 1' X
1' section using light to medium pressure until it starts to dry out.
Then take a second towel and lightly rub back and forth until the polish
residue disappears and the gloss comes up. If there are still some
swirls visible you can repeat this step until they are minimal. I prefer
using a less aggressive product a couple times instead of using a more
aggressive product once. After you are done you can
wash with Z-7 and apply Z-5.

Hope this helps. Need more advice call me.--

So far, simply running my car through a touchless car wash then drying immediately with Meguiar's 'water magnet' towels works great, and is quick. It's worth 5 bucks to me to not wash it by hand.

KEEP THE CAR WET!!! Wash one section at a time and rinse constantly. After the entire car is washed, take the nozzle off the hose and let a stream of water run over the whole car on medium pressure. This will "sheet" the water, leaving behind minimal water to be picked up. I use Meguiar's water magnet...it's excellent. Fold the towel in quarters and go over the car slowly. all the water will be gone.

Spectre30075, I would be careful about those touchless wahes. They often tmes use chemicals to help lift the dirt, but can damage clearcoats over time

    Blk05-

The water where I live is very hard with high mineral content. I use the Mr. Clean cartridge system and I've been very pleased with that. You have to filter hard water if you don't want spotting. So, unless you want to rinse your car with distilled purified water, get yourself a filter washing system. :)

I used the Zaino line on my GT vert and I too was very pleased with the results. The stuff isn't cheap but none of the good products are. I also ordered the glass cleaner and leather conditioner. I couldn't believe the glass clarity after I treated the windshield and windows and wiped them down with EagleOne glass cleaner...outstanding! :nice: The leather conditioner also went on very easily and dried quickly...no noticable difference in appearance because the seats are new.

The new Mr Clean Autodry Carwash system comes with a mitt quite link what I use and it runs about $29.99. The mitt I have actually is two sided and I picked it up at walmart. On one side, it kinda looks like a mop. On the other side, more like a soft scowering pad, great for getting rubber off the rear bumper behind the wheel well (how that ever got there, I dunno? :D ) But anyways, if you have hard water, and want to wash your car at home, to get good results you have 2 choices. Install a water softener, or get the Mr Clean kit. Besides, it's pretty cool to watch your car dry in minutes before your eyes.

p.s., it works great on rims too. It made my chrome ones looks like I'd polish them when I was done. Never needed to polish or wax with that.

What Zaino applications is everyone using? I'm considering the Ultimate Kit (i.e. the ZFX accelerator, Z2, Z5, Z6, Z18 claybar, etc.) but am wondering if it's worth the money. Has anyone used this kit?

    sacha,

That is the same kit I got. This is the first time that I haved used Zaino, so I can't give you a diffinitive answer. I know that it takes very little polish to do the car. It took 1/4 of an ounce to put one coat on my car. Sal recommends a minimum of 3. I saw that 3 coats should last about 9 months before another coat. There are people that put 10, 15, 20 coats on their cars.

I used the clay bar, reminds me of Silly Putty. I used the Leather Cleaner & Conditioner. It did a good job. I used the Tire Gloss, provide a light shine without all the gel or gunk. I still need to put the remaining 2 coats on using Z-5 and another coat of Z-2. The Gloss Enhancer is pretty awsome to bring the shine back.

I would say that I am extremely pleased with the products. The price is high, but your paying for a top notch product.

    Hope this helps.

If you live in a warm climate you don't need the accelerator. Here's what I did:

    Week 1
    1. full wash with Dawn (inside joke GTJade :p )
    2. Z18 clay bar with recommended blend of Z-wash + water for lubricant
    3. Z-2 polish, dry, wipe
    4. Z-6 spritz and wipe
    5. Wash with Z-wash using Mr. Clean system
    6. Z-5 polish, dry, wipe
    7. Z-6 spritz and wipe

    Week 2
    1. Wash with Z-wash using Mr. Clean system
    2. Z-5 polish, dry, wipe
    3. Z-6 spritz and wipe
    4. Apply Z glass conditioner, wipe with EagleOne glass cleaner
    5. Apply Z leather conditioner

6.... Drive around with a big smile on my face because my baby looks DELICIOUS!

Don't skip the clay bar...it's worth the extra elbow grease.

There are a lot of contaminants in the air and on the road here in SoCal. My car isn't picking up the amount of dirt I was used to. I ocassionally dust her down with the "California Duster" and spritz a little z-6 on the problem areas (rear and front quarters, back bumper) ... takes about 10 minutes.

    Blakthorn,
Thanks for the comment, thats only one coat. Imagine it with three. If you go to Zaino's site, he has some cars on there that have 10 to 15 coats that put mine to shame.

    nbk13nw,
That looks awsome! This is my first black besides a 69, which was like 20 years ago. Nothing like the newer technologies of auto paints. I just got it tinted yesterday and it really makes the car look good.
