Ok, I'm finally going to get my Saleen Speedster Tonneau Cover Painted! I've got a Speedster Cover that came without the 3 Metal plates bent down on the back part of the Cover towards the back of the car! Does anyone have a picture of what the angles bent should look like??? Whats the measurement where the bend is?? Any recomendation for what to use to bend these Metal (Stay in Place tabs) beside a Metal Vice??? I want to make sure it fits with ease before having it painted!! Right now, with the 3 Metal tabs on it straight, it's a pain in the #*@ and near impossible to get on and will scratch up the convertibles Black metal trim when trying to put it on this way! The Cover is an Authentic Saleen 99 to 04 cover too! Any help here would be appreciated, thanks!:)

The tabs fit under the rear moulding in front of the trunk - they are bent parallel with the tonneau cover and slide back under the moulding - they point to the back of the car & don't go straight down - or did I misunderstand what you asked?

Hey, gonen20.. I just talked to my dad (bigblockgt).. he was wrong (he's old.. haha. )They don't bend at all, they just slide under the molding.

When I bought my cover from Saleen for my Cobra, they supplied weatherstrip that I had to install on the edges so that it wouldn't scratch. Does your cover have weatherstrip?

    Good Luck!

Thanks for the replies! Today, I tried with 2 other people to put the speedster cover on and we were unsuccessful after trying to fit it on for 1/2 hour! I managed to scratch up the Rear black trim on the car around were those three metal tabs are on the Saleen speedster cover too!!! I must be doing something wrong here! The Only time I ever got it to fit was when I bought it from the guy that had it on his car and it was really tough to get it on that day too but I had to get it home! I want to get this thing painted, but I want to figure out how to fix it so its not such a struggle or near impossible to put on!!! Maybe, I'm angling it on wrong?? I'm confused! Roberts S351 Saleen Press/Demo car has them slightly angled but his car is a 97 which is a different speedster cover then the one I have for my 2000 and after talking with Marcus about it, sometimes on the Press cars they did things different!! Any help or pictures would help here!

I am not sure I can help much other then to tell you that when I put mine on I do it myself, I put it about five inches from the back and slide it on. I will get it down and take pictures of the clips and see if that helps.

Thanks for all the replies and especially the pictures! Cool Pup too! I see the metal tabs are slightly angled on the pictures, this helps! Your lucky your bar is attatched to the Cover! Mine are slighty bent the opposite way! That might explain things! Anyone have advice on how I can bend these evenly without snaping them off???

Mine is secured by two screws, if yours is too, I would remove the tabs, then bend it into shape and put them back on, that way you don't strip the screws.

Mine are pop riveted on, I guess I could drill them out, take them off and reattach them by screws! Thanks for all the help! Nice ride Too!
