For those who are curious about how these mods would change their cars, here are some before and after pics. Wheels- stock 15" painted wheels to 17" Bullitt take-offs. The anthracite wheels are a match for Mineral Grey, and the wider tires (245/45ZR17) really improve cornering, without sacrificing ride. I didn't go with the deep-dish rears, since this is plenty of tire for a V6, and staggered wheels make tire rotation a hassle! Springs- stock to BBK Progressive springs with 1.5" drop. By far the biggest visual improvement to the car! The 4x4 look is gone, and the ride hasn't suffered at all. The only downside is you have to take it slow over speed bumps, or you'll grind the exhaust as you bump over it. Exhaust- stock single exhaust to BBK dual cat-back. The big stainless tips are borderline rice, but the system sounds great! I have a startup/rev video of it that I might post if I can find a place to host it (9MB).
Nice JOB! Can you tell me if your exhaust system came with everything you needed for the passenger side or did you need to buy extra parts? Also - was it an easy bolt on??? Sincerely pj
The exhaust kit doesn't include the hangers, so you'll have to get them from Ford. There's really no way to use a generic hanger, since the mounting holes are offset from the pipe. Installation was easy, and the system comes in small enough pieces you don't even need to put the car on a lift to feed the pipes over the axle. The joints are all ball-and-socket style, so you just get everything where you want it and tighten everything down. There are two things you have to be careful of. The two exhaust pipes have to be as far over the axle as possible (without touching the chassis) to allow suspension travel without hitting it. Also, be careful of the hard brake lines that run on the inside of the chassis sides. You don't want the pipe to hit one and crimp it shut!
