What would it take for an old 5.0 to run with one of the SRT8 Chargers? I hear they have 425hp but look really heathly.

    Not much...

If I'm not mistaken they only run high 13's, which would not take much to get.

Well, it wouldn't be that tough but the 425HP Charger is a low 13 second car.

You guys are wrong....I have an 2006 Dodge Magnum SRT-8 bone stock with 500 miles on it ran 12.9 @ 109 mph...That was a cold day in Oct...On very Hot days it ran 13.1...Now my car isnt stock anymore i mean all i have is an Cold air intake, mufflers...resonators removed, colder t-stat...and a 100 shot...:D and i ran 12.0 @ 118 on street tires...and the car weighs in at 4685 lbs...They move dont under estimate them they have programers for them now and more mods then they did a few yrs ago...Yes you can make a stang run what they do...its not hard...I have my 85 GT that i want to run in the low 11's so im sure i can do that with some work....:)

Most guys are going to need HCI all the bolt ons, and probably even a tire to beat them. Quick cars!

To beat a 100% stock one, all you need is 13 seconds to do it. High 12's would be the "icing" on the cake.

My best friend has a 06 SRT8 300 and it ran 13.50 @107 on a 90+ degree day. Thats bone stock with 22" wheels on it and a trunk full of golf clubs! So pretty much , a fox body will need quite abit done to it to hang with a stock srt8. Be a better race with a stock SRT4!!

My parents have the smaller Hemi in a Magnum and that's a high 14 second car.
It's rated at 360HP. So I can't see how an extra 65 HP (In the SRT*'s) is gonna Make your Magnum a second and a half faster!

Yep, its true. The day my buddy ran his there was another 06 SRT8 300 running with the stock f1s and 20s and it ran a 13.33 off the highway. Went 13.17 after it cooled off. It was stock. Same car ran a 12.7 last week with a handheld tuner and a drop in filter. They are badass cars. Go test drive one!!

That's correct, 345 HP. They had a small write up in Car and Driver when the SRT8's first came out.
They Dynoed the new SRT without any accessories on it and on an engine stand, it made the SAME EXACT HP as the old 426 Hemi in the same test.

Think of them like you used to thiink of LS1s, and I think you'll be right on track. They'll run low 13s, maybe eek out 12s. HCI + bolt on cars shouldn't have any problem putting them down for the count.

Not a huge amount of 12 second basic HCI cars on street tires it seems... I assume were talking beat one on the street correct? If they are trapping 107-110 at the track, thats going to take a bit of work on the fox to do it.

Exactly...And what says that SRT next to you is stock....ALOT and I mean alot of them already have H/C/I combos plus juice...so be very very careful when you see one next to you...I have SRT's with a programer go mid 12's on street tires...Bt no means an i sayin a mustnag cane beat one they could but i think its going to take alot of work to do it...just my opinion tho...

Well, that's because most of the foxes aren't built or tuned right. Here's a cookie cutter combo for 110+ traps and sub 13 times (I went 11.9@112.9 with ET Streets and stock suspension disconnected sway bar and 4 cyl springs).

AFR165s pedestal mount milled .024"(box-stock ports and combustion chambers)Cobra intake w/ ported lower (RPM would be preferable)
    custom cam ($325)
    1.6 rockers
    pullies, electric fan
BBK 1 5/8" LTs w/ H-pipe, Dynomax superturbo mufflers (quiet and probably restrictive)
4.10 gears, TKO tranny, aluminum D/S
    65mm TB, 75 bullet MAF, K&N conical
    24# injectors@55psi (30# injectors preferable)
    Walbro in-tank 255lph pump
No lightening except the dog-bone and spare tire removed
    18* timing
    No engine management or chip

Or you could just go with a 125-150 shot of NOS (yeah I said NOS, what's the big deal?) on a stock 5.0, would get you the power you'd need.

That should be plenty to handle one from a drag or a roll. From a drag though, with the gears and tires you'll holeshot the poor SOB so bad he won't wanna race another fox again. Then you'll just continue to run away from the heavy-goliath looking behemuth. Your car will run 160+ mph in the top end, so he shouldn't even be able to run you down, there.

My85GT, I think we better not get into the modified arguments because those never end, and the answer is always just "more modifications." Speed costs money, how fast do you wanna spend?

Im not going to get into an argument with anyone but anyday you want to go from a roll..lets go....An SRT just isnt fast in the 1/4 my friend they have a top speed of 180 yes i said 180 stock ....and it can do it i can post many many many videos of guys running them..at top speeds...Some from Germany on the autobahn...You would have to gear your car for some very fast 1/4 speeds to run int he 11's i know i have to install gears on my GT..My SRT stock comes with 3.06's yes thats all they have they dont even make gears for them yet...So not only is it fast in the 1/4 it has good road manners to...They stopping power is awesome 13 inch brake rotors Brembo brakes...its not a run of the mill car they put some time and monely tooling this car to compeat with the big boys....Any it i can remember the 1st post stated what would it take to stya with an SRT...that means what MODS..Do You need to STAY with a bone stock 4600 lb car...that already runs low low low 13's to high 12's STOCK!!!!!! so yes we can keep going here but why....Take a bone stock GT and A bone stock SRT and all i can say is bye bye.....no chance...The SRT is an all around car not just bult for the 1/4 miles its actually a family car...lol
