Steering wheel noise

when i align my steering wheel at center and slightly rock it back and forther i get a strange sound like theres a ping pong ball in there rocking back and forth. it only happens when the wheel is straight.

does anyone have any insight into this? how do i open up the steering wheel to take a look myself? i'm afraid of setting off the airbag.

hmm, ive never heard of anything like that. But, my guess is that you have a bad U-Joint. That's on the driveshaft but i remember when my friend would turn his wheel, it would make a horrible noise and it was the U-joint. Takes about 15 minutes to replace.
