i bought a 91 aod coupe. it has 100000 miles on it and is bone stock. im talking air silencer to the 2.73 rear end. it has 225/60 16 tires on it wich are taller than stock so that is no help at all. i know the owners of the car since it was bought. it has been driven by women and never abused. i took it to the track and was a little dissapointed. here is my timeslip r/t .591 60 2.41 330 6.790 1/8 10.247 1000 13.207 1/4 15.690 mph 91.01 it this right for a 5.0? what can i do to improve on this time? i dont want to go out and get spanked buy some ricer. please dont tell me i bought a old wron out car. thanx
Thats about right...my friend has a stock AOD coupe and ran about those times, he shaved .5 off just by icing the intake though for a best of 14.7, 4.10 gears and drag radials would do wonders for you
ice the intake? you mean put a bag of ice on the plentum? for how long do you put it on there. bagged ice or dry ice?
Gears, Drag radials, free flowing exhaust, would shave neer a second off. My friend ran 15.0s with his bone stock 90 lx AOD. He changed to 4.10s, headers, good exhaust and mufflers,KN filter and a set of drag radials and went 13.92 with no other changes
What rpm are you shifting at? Do you know the AOD shuffle? This will allow you to hold it in gears longer. I have a stock tach, do you? I got my best times shifting at 6700rpm on the stock tach. Shifting at 5000, I was as slow as you. Something to think about. Do you have anything in the trunk you can remove? Do you have any traction probs? You 60' is really bad I think for an auto car, is this because of the spinning? If so, no worry.
Yeah he just had a bag of ice on the upper intake, probably a 1/2 hour or so I wasnt paying attention, i saw the slips before and after...15.2 to 14.7
All computer controlled mustangs have Built in revlimiters of 6250. SO whoever shifts anyhigher than that on the stock tach has an inaccurate tach. Stock 5.0s should be shifted at 5200-5300. No more.
Your times seem about right. Your gears and tires are killing any et that car might make. Your best bet would be some gears, 3.73,3.90 or 4.10's. A higher stall converter and some tires. You'll be down in the 13's with that fairly easy.
YEP! Putting 4.10s in an aod, would be like putting 3.73s in a 5 speed. so, with your 2.73s now, thats like a 2.40 gear. I thought the 2.73s were bad in 5 speeds, but your car must be a dog off the line. So gears, drag radials and an exhaust will really wake that lil car up. if you have it, spring for an intake (like a used cobra for $250) and a cold air intake. Used pullies run about $50 on the classifieds too!
