 Street racing kills 7 while a deranged teen shoots and kills 4! This kind of stuff will never end... All we can do is be fortunate enough to not be in the same area when it does!

    From the article.

So uh... it wasn't the street racers who crashed, it was some other person. They focus on the racers, who didn't hit the crowd, and say nothing about the driver of the car who plowed into people. Who was he? How was he involved? Was he intoxicated? Did he do it on purpose?

This thread should be titled "Guy with no lights on Kills 7, who happened to be watching a street race."

Obviously, the street racing is illegal, but I'm more interested in the guy who hit people.

he was probably filming it for youtube

Seriously though it sounds more like homicide than an accident. The fact that he drove his car into a crowd without his lights on

Found another article about it. The car who hit people had nothing to do with the racing. Do they usually ticket people for watching a street race? I would say they were at fault for the whole mess.

This was a very unfortunate event. There is plenty of blame to go around. Now for my rant. If you disagree, that's certainly your right.

What were those people doing standing in the road? From what I observe in San Francisco, pedestrians often walk wherever they want, without regard for vehicular traffic. I was out driving yesterday, on a road in the city with three vehicular lanes for traffic traveling in my direction. A dozen or more people were crossing against the do not walk sign. This is a frequent occurrence. They seem to think that they have an absolute right of way, including when the vehicular traffic has the green light.

Even on this forum, the comments are largely critical of the driver of the Crown Vic.

The pedestrians had to be some kind of dumb to be standing on a road that apparently had very limited visibility.

As I said, there is plenty of blame to go around, but the pedestrians seem to be getting less than they should.

    Well, that's my rant.

Touchy subject - I see this sort of layout all the time, everyone wants to go watch the race and the danger level is enhanced 10 fold. Cars lined up the entire length of the run on both sides of the street. Trouble just waitin to happen.

Too bad for all parties on this deal..

Yes, even the link I put in earlier here where the 20 year drag veteran was doing a demo burnout and lost control and went into the crowd.
