Well my day started out pretty good, went to Evansville IN to have my Python keyless entry installed. Then I left there went to eat lunch with my wife and kids that had come down to Evansville also to take my little girl to the eye Dr. I parked next to the edge of the parking lot, trying to avoid any door dings. When I came out, the first thing I noticed was a mark on my drivers side door from a piece of junk Camaro (it really was) parked next to me. The car was left unlocked and open. I opened the door and sure enough it matched right up to the scrape. I was pissed. I went back into the Dr's office asking if anyone owned the Camaro, no one did. I went back outside and waited for the irresponsible fool to come out and leave. It ended up being a Dad and 3 small kids (the eye Dr is a specialist for children). I asked him if he knew that his door had hit my car. He said he was not aware of it, but offered me his insurance card, and pen to take his information. I called the # on the card and made a report/claim immediately. It just ruined my day when I try so hard to take care of my Pony. I should have waited untill the adjuster called, but i went ahead and buffed out all the scratch, only a small chip remains. I will check in daylight to make sure no dent. I really admire the Dad not being mean about the deal, but I wanted him to know so he would be more careful. I always help my kids in and out of the car when next to other peoples cars. Will update later what happens with the adjuster.

P.S. 3 small kids, one car seat and not even properly installed was where the real crime was :(

It works pretty good. Got to have good actuators for one thing first!!!. Using the remote, push the lock/unlock button and it does the opposite of last time u pushed it. When it locks the doors it arms the alarm too and then disarms when u unlock the doors. Another cool feature is it locks the doors after u shut the doors and start the car. Then when u shut off the car, it unlocks the doors automatically. Just like the new cars have!!! It can also pop the hatch for the grocery trips. $220 installed.

Mine came with the little yellow button inside the glove box that pops the solenoid to release the hatch from the lock. I don't know what kind of deal you would have to go thru to change yours, but couldn't be that bad????

The hatch supports, I went with the ones for the Cobra or GT, they seem to give extra lift than the LX ones, and only cost a little more than the regular ones that they listed for LX at Autozone. Its been probably 6-8 yrs since I replaced mine and they still work great. :)

Oh yea, yesterday in Evansville, I saw a 93 Reef Blue with sunroof and 10 holes at an intersection. He didn't see me untill he almost got turned, but I honked and I could tell he was like " way cool another car like mine  " It was pretty dirty but I'm sure it would clean up nicely

I wonder why the lift supports for the GT/Cobras are more expensive???
There's a guy in my town (93-2.3 here on StangNet) that has a Reef Blue with 10-holes and a sunroof. I see him on the road a lot and I think it's cool because our cars look and sound the same. I just need to get my emblems on and we'll really be twins.

I am glad you handled the situation respectfully.. Atleast the guy is being a dad to his kids.. He made a mistake bumping your car, while doing his best to be a good father. Sometimes in life, there are more important things then dings on your door.. I am glad you kept your kool enough to realize this.. I mean, I understand the ding sucks.. Too bad it couldnt be anyone else.. But the guy having 3 kids with him, ruined any chance of symapathy from me.. I respect him more for being a good father, and could care less for your ding.. LOL!! Sorry man.. I'd bitch too if my door got dinged.. If I made a post about it, I would leave out the 3 little kids.. LOL!!

yeah I wouldent want my kids to think that oh well he did it and ran off well so can I.

At least hes teaching his kids to be respectfull, now just teach the kids not to let the door hit the car.

so far every time I dordinged someone the door hit the rubber strip on the sides and it was just a lil dunk sound I look and theres never any damage of any sort.

so ive been pirty luckey when it comes to that.

I guess there is some justice in this world. The adjuster came, plugged all the info into his notebook computer, printed out the estimate, and printed out the check. I won't post a $ amount, but it should be enough to get it repaired based upon an estimate I had already got. Going to have a paintless dent repair guy look at it next week, but the adjuster thought that it would be a tough one for dentless repair. I was particular where I parked before, but now even more.

Have a Great Day :flag:

It seems that when you purposely try to park your car somewhere safe. someone always manages to park their POS next to it and do something to it. I had mine parked in a lot at a shop next to a car that looked abandoned. The lots are small so I parked close to his passenger side.

I come out later and find a large chunk of paint missing. kinda my fault and kinda not. It looked as if they had opened the door, held it against my car and then jumped up and down in the car. I was pissed off the rest of the day. lucky for me it hasnt rusted.

I have had many other situations and heard and seen others. :-(

Yea, people have no respect for cars. Its just a vehicle to most people. I have really started watching where I park again. I used to take up 2 spots parked diagonal, but I think that just draws attention and makes people still park close. If I go to Wal-Mart, I have started parking at the Tire & Lube in the back, less traffic. There was a video on here posted by someone that was hilarious about door dings, door dings????
