I'm looking for some help. Can anyone recommend where to get, or what other application might match,
I need an axle shaft for an 85 SVO. any of the usual suppliers I deal with(primarily classic stuff) have not been able to find them
7.5" with 5 lugs is apparently some what unique

    thanks in advance

is the mark VII a 7.5"? or are 8.8's the same shaft diameter and spline count?

The drivers side axle out of a 4 cyl. ranger will work perfect.:D 7.5 axles will work in an 8.8 also.

no they wont, svo's are rear disk which makes them longer.heres some input on axles

all mustang axles from 79-93 are one length,7.5 or 8.8

93 cobra,87-88 turbo coupes-98 mustang v6 or gt are 3/4 of an inch longer then posted above cause of being rear disk

99-04 v6 or gt (maybe newer but not sure)are longer then the second post, not sure by how much but they are

now the 84-86 svo's are even longer than my 3rd post.i know all this cause when i had my coupe it had rear disk,i had one bent axle so i got a 94 and up mustang one and it was to short.after more research it had svo rear brakes and axles.another then thats a dead give away, measure the rear brake disk, the svo's have 11inch disks and bigger calipers, the others i posted only have a 10 inch disk and smaller calipers

Contact Moser.....they have SVO axles available at a reasonable price.

really, when i was looking for one 2 years ago i called them and they said it would be about a month to make it and would cost around 260 bux apiece.unless they changed, thats not reasonable to me lol

I had a set in a couple days......IMO $260 ain't bad when you consider what you're getting for the $$$. New axles w/ 0 miles....you know the history. Sure, you can take a chance on a set of j/y axles, but you never know what you're getting....and consider the likelihood of finding SVO length axles at the j/y.

    I ain't sayin....just sayin....

i understang what your saying, they must of had more demand now than back then.i still think 260 a piece is way to much when i can order a set of 31 splines for my 5.0 for less than that biut thats just me.hell i think you can get them from ford cheaper than that.

$260 a piece??? I believe it's a pair....I want to say I paid somewhere around $260 for a set (both sides) including installed lugs. I'll have to find my receipt now......

Oh...and if you're suggesting SVO or Lincoln Mark VII owners can get stock axles though Ford....I'd like to see that. I highly doubt Ford is still carrying these parts on the shelf. Last I looked at stock replacement axles, Moser seemed the best way to go for quality and price. This was a little over a year ago.
