Can I use my mustang 7.5" complete brake assembly with on my t-bird 7.5"? I picked up and installed a t-bird rear, but i dont have brakes on it and I have a complete mustang rear with good brakes. I know the t-bird ones are bigger so i need to swap backing plates, but I just need some rear brakes for temporary purposes.

Yup. The T-bird rear IIRC is slightly wider but you can swap all of the brake parts over.

I thought Thunderbirds (with drums) had the same 9" drums the mustang did?

I meant the rear end is wider but that has nothing to do with the brakes, I should not have metioned that since it was irrelevant.

Yes the drums, shoes, and brake hardware are all the same.

I was just commenting on his statement "I know the t-bird ones are bigger."

the 4 banger 7.5's drums didnt fit on the 7.5" t-birds pads. I pulled the rear from a 5.0L t-bird...that could be a difference. I didnt check thoroughly at the scrap yard...I grabbed a drum sitting under a 2.3L mustang and tried to put it on the t-bird...didnt fit and I would be extremely suprised if the drum wasnt from a stang. I decided to find some t-birds brake parts anyhow.

alright they are like 10" or 10.5" drums because my mustangs 9" drum didnt fit over the brake piston.
