tensioner flip/mod

Ive searched for the answer to do it but i cant find out how to. Im only running the alternator and crank pulley on my car and I need a way for the stock tensioner to work. How do you guys do this tensioner mod that ive been hearing about. It doesnt seem like the stock tensioner even comes apart?

Remove tensioner, put in vise, use the 18mm to pull it back some and use a screwdriver or somthing to pry the plate on the face of the tensioner up and off. You could then just relase the tension, pull the tensioner the oppisite way a little, reinstall the face plate where the lip of the place is on the other side of the tensioner. However, it wont' be usable because the tensioner will be too far over, so you will need to drill another hole to put the base of the spring into so it will align properly so you can acutally use it. Hard to explain.
