Today I was a victim...of the 4 cyl bandit. You all know him. He cruises the streets in his noble steed, the white 2 door Honda Civic hatch back Type X (or S, Z, R, or any other letter they think looks cool). His armor is the hoodie and skull cap. I'm minding my own business and here he comes pulling up next to me...at the red light. He's blasting beats, left hand on the steering wheel, right hand on his chin, leaning to the right, looking for trouble, and he's got 16 1/2 seconds of spare time with my name all over it. He looks over and gives me the nod. You know "THE nod"...where the chin shoots up real quick with the jaw clenched, holds for 2 seconds, and then slowly comes down all while simultaneously ice grilling me with the arrogant contemptuous expression on his face. The nod that let me know that I was the unlucky SOB in the wrong place at the wrong time and he was ready to show me what is what. The gauntlet was thrown and I was called out when he revved exactly 3 times. So I SMDH as I look over with a smirk thinking to myself "oh brother, not this again". I tell myself "I'm too old for this and I'm gonna get pulled over" as I'm dropping into 1st, turning off the OD, and disabling the traction control. As it just so happens tho, I was a bit pressed for time so unfortunately I could only give him 13 seconds of my attention.

Haha...anyway it's like these kids have a dress code or something. And they have a protocol of what to do in the event they happen upon some unwary Mustang on the streets they're patrolling. Even the female 4 cyl bandits (4 cyl banditas) dress and act accordingly in the jurisdiction they're assigned to. They come rolling up looking at you like they're gonna take your lunch and there's nothing you can do about it. And it's never the fast ones that do this, they're usually cool. It's only the 15 second and slower crowd. Which is why it's soo rewarding to just walk them. So beware, stick to the side streets, try not to draw attention to yourself, and ALWAYS make the green or yellow light, and maybe you can avoid the fury of...the 4 cyl bandit, hahahaha!! Sheesh...

    Great story!!

I live for stomping the **** out of those children (with their dub step crap music and dragging rag doll on the tow hook  ) and I'm much too old as well. They need to learn their place with their 4 gerbils and sometimes its our job as mustang owners to teach them. :) But it's those damn gutted 2000lb ek hatchback k20 swaps that can sometimes make me eat my words.

Trust me redsn95gt I've had my but handed to me a few times by them. But the ones who are fast are usually cool...at least from my experiences. I've had them throw me a thumbs up, or they'll pull up and look over and smile and wave or something. They don't have the cocky little attitudes that the slower ones seem to always have.

i dunno, maybe i'm too out of it to notice ... but noone has ever challenged me.

then again, when i'm on the road, it is at rush hour and i'm on my way to or from work.

if i cruised around at night a couple times per week, i'd probably run into a bandit or 2.

I can't afford to go cruising...nor do I have the time for it. My engine has been running for 8 months now, and has 117 miles on it.

that happened to me once, it was raining, he challenged me and when i about hit him with the rear end of my car cuz i couldnt get any traction he backed off. silly ricers! whats really embarrasing is losing to a turbo PT cruiser, although i had only had my car about a week, and hadnt learned to drive it and had numerous things go wrong in the following days after. needless to say his 1/4 mile time slip was a 15.5, mine was a 14.1. for some reason he wont race me anymore, i dont understand lol

Yep you're spot on that. All the guys running the really fast hondas have all been really cool. The guys with the uber loud stereos, suspensions and camber from hell and fart cannons are all running stock d16 motors and maybe make 90hp to the ground =P No wonder they call me "Hater" when I'm laughing at them at the intersection.

I honestly just ignore them all. I wait a good 2 seconds after the light turns green to even move. I'm not going to jail to prove I'm faster than a Honda. My wife would never let me hear the end of that one. "You went to jail to race a Honda???"

Yea I hear ya buddy. I try, I honestly try, to ignore them but they just keep asking for it. I always wonder what I'd say if I got pulled over and had to explain myself...here's a 34 year old man racing some punk...haha!! Sometimes you just gotta know when to stop and slow down...depending on the road, weather, city, time of day, etc, I cut it at 60 MPH from a light (maybe 80 from a light on long highway stretches). And I never floor it, maybe half to 3/4 throttle if that. It's just not advisable at all to go in on the streets...

I love hitting the gas to WOT a couple of times and drowning out his radio, get him all excited, and watch him take off like a dumbass by himself. I do happen to get pissed off from time to time to show them up, but most times it isn't worth the ticket. Did have my @$$ handed to me one or two times with from the same guy with a k20 swap. he is actually fast but still a d0uche

Yea I hear ya bro. Because people hear "street racing" and they automatically think it's some punk teen driving at 100 MPH in the middle of the afternoon and slamming into a family in a minivan. Personally I don't see anything wrong with enjoying your car in a responsible and reasonable manner.

It's all about that movie. After the Fast and the Furious it all went down hill.

As Moderator I must tell you, Stangnet does not encourage street racing. What you're doing is wrong and you could be ban from Stangnet.

    J/K, I had too.
