Where are the center mounted "fog"/"driving" lights that adorned the original Shelby GT 500's? It just doesn't look right without them. I wish Ford/SVT would add those to the car and then it would be perfect! Anyone agree? ~Matt.
I don't agree. They are already on the GT. Besides the car looking better with the fogs down low, it differentiates itself further from the GT front end. What I don't like is the mirrors. They should come in the body color and not bean-counter-black. Other than that, I love this car ... Just my opinion, though ...
I know the GT has them already, but they are twords the outsde of the grill.... The GT 500s of the 60/70s had them right next to eachother in the center of the grill. That's what I'm getting at. Oh well, I guess I'm the odd man out. ~Matt.
Supposedly they were going to mount the driving lights up there, but found that the blown 5.4L needed as much cooling as possible, so they left the entire grille and air dam space completely open. If you wanted to do that yourself, it would be a relatively easy mod I would think..
Matt the only GT500s that came with center mounted lights were early 1967 models. They were actually the highbeams not driving lights. They turned out to be illegal in some states and blocked off airflow to the radiator causing the cars to run hot, so they were moved to the sides in the middle of the model run. This car is suppossed to copy the 1968 GT500 which had rectangular fog lamps in the sides of the grill opening. However your not the odd man out. I agree with you that something is missing. As an SVT owner, I understand that is an "SVT Tradition" to have round driving lights bellow the bumber .However with such a large grill opening they need to put something there.IMHO, eithier 67 style center mounted lights, or 68 style rectangular fogs would do the job.
haha - if you had a GT500, you wouldn't want me in it. i'd be bugging you the whole time to let me drive!
