Although I currently have a clean record (knock on wood) I wasn't always such a safe driver. In fact it wouldn't be a lie to say I used to drive like an idiot. I've been ticketed for everything from my car being too low to doing 85 in a 55 (on my way to the DMV to get a motorcycle license). I once ran a stop sign in Arizona and while the cop was writing the ticket, a car came screeching to a stop with a young man in the back seat who had been shot at close range with a shotgun. Did the cop let me go? HELL NO!!! He simply checked the guy's wounds, out radio'd for an ambulance then went back to writing my ticket. I was once following a car that was in the left lane and going about 10 mph under the legal limit. I flashed my lights (it was daylight) to let him know I would like to pass, and he spiked his brakes, so I flipped him off. Unfortunatley it was an unmarked car and he wrote me a ticket for following too closely, for which I had to do a full Saturday in traffic school, sweet. On the plus side, since I've gotten a bit older, I realize that you may actually have an opportunity to get out of the ticket if you keep your mouth shut (believe it or not, most cops have heard your story before and don't seem to need hear it again) and act (even if you're not) sorry. Of course I could simply obey the law, but where's the fun in that?

Only one ticket, but it was a biggie! Rear ended an insurance adjuster in my 1st Stang, a 65 coupe around 1973. She got me for just about everything wrong with her 66 BIG BODY CHEVY. I've had a lot of close calls, but luckily, no tickets. The last was when I punched it off a stop light not realizing there was a patrol car next to me, sneaky officer.

My first and only ticket was in 2001 I believe. I was following traffic on a large 4 lane road in my '66. Officer was driving in the oncoming lane, lights came up, and he pulled me over in a parking lot. My little brother had no idea what was happening (I had just picked him up from school). It was for 64 in a 45. Sadly, my speedometer didn't work at that time... Needless to say, I fixed that problem shortly after. I'm pretty sure it was because the car was vintage burgundy with primer orange front fenders. Yeah.. my car was a piece of crap back then. That was $300 and 4 points, but I got it reduced when I went to the court.
The next night after that happened at around 1am, (in the '66 again) I was going the opposite way on the same road. This time doing the speed limit :D . My friend and I were arguing about where we should go next and when we decided, I turned onto the road to go whereever. There were no other cars on the road. As soon as I made the turn, the officer turned on his headlights, then his other lights (he had followed me). He said I was being suspicious, because I didn't use my blinker and I didn't have a liscense plate light (I fixed that too) He searched me, searched my friend, and put us in his car. Then he searched my entire car and trunk. Twice. Then he got us out and searched us again. He didn't even clean up his mess in my car. He tried to be friendly with us (to get us to admit to something, drugs, I'm sure), and an hour later we got a warning and went home.
Acouple weeks after this incident, I was with the same friend as before and another one. We were walking back to my house after a nice stroll at around... 1am. (I used to work 10 hours a day and would be awake at night) We made it to my street and got "pulled over" by 3 cop cars. I got searched 3 times by 2 different officers. (I guess I'm just that goodlooking) Then the "bad cop" proceeded to curse and shout bs in my face for about 30 minutes. An hour later we were let go with nothing.
They **** me off sometimes...
After those times, I haven't had run-ins with them.

My last ticket was in December, 1965. Put my 1 1/2 year old Mustang convert in the Ford place for 24k checkup, while I was visiting home. They gave me a new Fairlane GT to drive, as I had some errands to run. Back then they didn't hook up the speedometer until the car was sold. Anyhoo, I hit a radar trap doing 62 in a 55 zone (I thought I was doing about 55 or so...). I lived in Maryland then, so when the HP saw my out-of-state DL in a local dealer tagged car, he started doing all kinds of checking. Anyway, no way to talk my way out of that one. Had to borrow some bux to drive the 400 miles back home.....

My roommate swears that if you do the speed limit you won't have to worry about getting a ticket. Unfortunately he was proved wrong while ridding with me in his car just outside of Lubbock TX. We were on a four lane divided highway with very little traffic. I was driving and doing 68 because Heath said his speedometer was a little off. I didn't speed up, there was no hill but I was passing an old lady in a crown vic when I noticed a DPS vehicle down the road on the other side of the highway.

We pass him and here he comes across the median lights blazing. $%@#!! I stopped and he comes up and tells me I was doing 76 in a 70. I looked at my roommate and then told the officer the cruise was set on 68. My roommate said the same and the officer asked me to step out of the car. I got searched and tucked into the cruiser while the officer went to talk to my roommate. I guess he was making sure I hadn't kidnapped him.

I guess he figured I should have a ticket since we were driving a GN and should have had that thing wide open. Or maybe he just thought I looked like a hooligan. I swear all cops must think that. Until I stripped the paint off my car (it's primered now) I got to personally meet each of the new police officers of the MPD and they always had the same question "Is this your car?" Hey it's not my fault I'm young and black. If I'm not breaking the law why don't they leave me alone?

Anyway that ticket cost me 100 bucks to get taken care of. My roommate got his speedo checked shortly after that and it turned out to be displaying the correct speed. Please someone tell me that speed limits are for the good of society and not just about getting people's money.

It is all about money, unfortunately. More and more red light and speeding cameras are going up for revenue generation. :nonono:

Yeah... I was in the Chino Hills/LA area for a month in 2002. It was rush hour, and our side of the four lane road was packed. There's a light up ahead with a left turning lane. Cars flying up the median to get to the left turning lane. Motorcycle cop waiting for them. He drives up to the first one and tells him where to pull over. Then a truck pulls up behind in the median, he points at him and tells him to come here. It was awesome.
I can understand cops in LA being too busy with homicides and drug busts to pull over a few cars. In Piedmont, SC, where I grew up, the cops have nothing to do, so I guess they targeted me. :D It's so funny, because they never believe you when you tell the truth. I love that. They get so pissed off and you can't help but laugh (on the inside of course). It's not like I'm going to resist or lie to them. They can waste all of the time they want searching me for drugs. The second cop that pulled me over reeeeeeeeaaaaally didn't like the way I was acting. I was too "mellow". Like I'm supposed to be scared or something. It's not my fault I was young and drug addict white or something. I guess that's what they were thinking.

I got pulled over about 2 months ago and I made a PROFIT of around $1500 on the deal. I wasn't driving all that fast though likely over the limit. when a CHP pulls me over. I've got a pretty good relationship with our local POLICE DEPARTMENT, but CHP is another thing entirely. Hard to get out of a chp ticket. He asks for my stuff and I hand it over. Pretty much the first thing he asks me is what I charge for kid's classes. I own a couple martial arts/fitness/kickboxing gyms in town. I let him know that I give a 50% discount for law enforcement officers (which I alway do, not just when I'm pulled over). Next thing I know, instead of getting a ticket, I getting a couple of kids. Makes me want to drive like a madman and really get some profits going.

    been pulled over for......

    Speeding way too many times
    Inspection sticker
    Brake light out
Not wearing seat belt in the 67 stang (how can he see my lap belts??)
Not wearing seat belt in my DD
No front license plate (which was dismissed..both times)
    running stop sign
    Display of power
    spectating (watching/flagging street racing)
Racing (which got my stang and I's picture in the Dallas PD street racing task force hand book of known participants :nonono:)
    Driving on median (unapproved surfaces)
dozens of times back in HS for just driving a loud, primer, quick stang and being too young which they usually just check everything (tires, exhaust, insurance, warrants, etc...) and let me go.

Only actually payed 4 tickets ever....Warnings on alot of them & fought the rest.

BTW - before i get :flame: by the "I cant believe..., I would never..., I dont approve.., you shouldnt..." crowd --FOR THE MOST PART IT WAS A LONG TIME AGO. and I do not condone any of this behavior :D

I've only been pulled over once, and it was actually really dumb.

I was driving on one of the back roads so I could hop up to I70 and go to KC. I crossed over a 1 lane bridge and the cop that had been following me immediately pulled me over. He said that I crossed over the center line once before the bridge and then again on the other side (crossing over the center line twice within a certain distance is legitimate grounds for pulling someone over). But he was really just using that as an excuse to see if I was carrying drugs (apparently that road is really popular for drug trafficing).

Hahaha...In 1984 I rode my bike ('82 CB750F) to the DMV to get my license and after I passed the test I was ticketed for driving to the test without a license...DOH! I'll blame it on the ponytail/mullet and Led Zeppelin t-shirt.

I have gotten 1 fix-it ticket for no front plate, and one for speeding (55 in a 40). I have gotten pulled over for running open headers (5 times) and one which involved breaking traction, reckless driving, exibition of speed, and noise polution. :nonono: All I gotta say is that I was lucky the cop was a Mustang fan.

Years ago I was riding with a friend and ended up with a seatbelt ticket... Then the only time i've been pulled over is in my works truck I got pulled over for expired licence plate on the trailer, one brake light out on the trailer and expired tags on the truck... Luckily I got away with a warning mainly becuase I was cool with the cop and neither the truck nor trailer were mine. We did however, register the truck... and tell the owner of the trailer his plates were expired.
