I run nitto 245-45-17 nitto's on my 17X9 wheels. They are a bit stretched though. I was afraid of running the 255-40-17 because it was ~3/4" shorter than my 315-35-17 and I didn't want to have problems with the ABS. I wish I would have gotten 17X8's for the front now.
i run 245's on 7 inch wide rims, i ran 255, everyone makes it out to be more than it is, i have had no problems so far, i had the old ones on for a year or so, these have been on for a month so far
yes... the person who mounts them might need to inflate them to around 60psi to get the bead to set. Only heard this, but when I mounted my tire the bead set around 40psi.
If you want some curb protection I would say to go with 255 or 265's. I have 245's on 9 in wheels and dont like the look at all like Paul said they look stretched. once these tires are worn out I will definetly be going to the correct size or larger.
