So I'm driving my Mustang to the (wherever) last month, then I'm there and wanna get out of my car. That's when I'm reminded of how short I am (5'4"). Getting in and out of a 2 door at this height, with a T-45 is a pain. I gotta sit so close to the dash board to be able to press the clutch pedal all the way. If it wasn't for that one pedal, I'd have my seat at least 5 inches back. Now I see firewall adjusters and things like that online, but I can't seem to figure out what they do. My main goal is modifying the clutch pedal, so either it's farther back, or preferably, doesn't need as much travel to function. Anyone who's driven a late model Toyota knows what I mean (the travel on the clutch is so small that you only really need to push the ball of your foot down to change years). I need my clutch pedal to function without having to be pushed so far, or be mounted closer to the seat. So is this possible, without doing a ghetto DIY job?

I'm only 5'6, and I don't have too much of a problem with that. I just tilt the front of the seat way up, back down, and scoot it up a bit. Only problem I have is when I get in and out, the top of my legs hit the bottom of the steering wheel. I got an adjustable quadrant, firewall adjuster, and cable, and I haven't found a good setup for it yet. It sucks right now, because I can't get it to engage far enough to not have 2nd grind, but if I make it much tighter, it slips like a ****. I'm not sure which way to adjust which part to get the results I want.

    Don't matter, had bacon.
Put the cable on the outermost hook on the quadrent and that will give the most cable pull with the least pedal movement.

Maximum Motorsports has a clutch pedal adjuster also, so you can move the height up quite a bit, then use the cable firewall adjuster to have it engage before it hits the bottom. I actually have a pedal adjuster laying around, PM if you want it for a couple bucks.

break and stretch your legs :D nah man im 5'6" too and its kinda hard to comfortably drive it. lately, i guess my clutch is giving out cuz it used to be that i needed to jam down on the clutch all the way to the firewall to disengage, and lately the travel has shortened to just an inch past the full engaged point  also, put only the BACK of your seat up and lower the front completely and itll drop your legs a good amount.

EDIT: manlets FTMFW :D chicks dig chihuahuas :D

i'm 5'6 as well and while i agree the ergonomics on this car are a little on the akward side i've never had a problem getting in or out

i have the seat bottom flat on the floor (not tilted or lifted at all) and the seatback set 3 lock positions back and when i stretch my arms out my wrists lay on the steering wheel. makes for a mandatory "slight gansta lean" and the headrest completly unuseable but it works for me

a firewall adj. and quadrant may help in your case. i have one but i did the opposite of what you want to do. in stock form (T-3650) the clutch would grab all the way at the top (which is what you want) but i wanted it to grab at the bottom. i was able to change it so you should be able to as well

i've come to the conclusion Ford used a rather large ape to test out the interiors and ergonomics of these cars
