Here's the deal... A girl ran into my wonderfull blue 302, sniff sniff, and now i'm looking at getting a sixer and doing a Twin Turbo. I'm looking for a convertable 5 speed, but really the convo ain't necessary. Anywho... I was wondering if the 5 speed is the same as the 5.0 motor, and same with the rear gears. I have a set of 3.73's in the garage, and a freshley built T-5 (actually out of a fox, but made to work in my 94). Any suggestions, comments, questions are greatly appreciated as i really gotta buy a car soon. (my girlfriend is gonna loose patience soon)
    Thanks!

The tranny in the 5.0 is tougher than ours and can handle more power...I think thats what your asking right, main differences are the bellhousing/input shaft are different I believe but same T5 tranny?? The gears will only work if they are for a 7.5" rear, so get some 7.5" gears or swap in an 8.8" rear axle.

shoot, i was hoping the rear was a 8.8. I'm thinkin the T5 is prolly the same, but we'll see. Right now i'm lookin at a fox convert 5.0, so if that falls through i'll be back at the six shooter. I would definatly want to swap to the 8.8 though.... and yeah, the input shaft and bellhousing and clutch fork are different from the fox's to the sn95's, but i thought the sixers were the same. maybe i'll find out!!! Thanks

Yeah Especially if your gonna TT the 6, you best off with the 8.8, as far as the T5 from a 5.0 to our 6, not 100% about that, sorry.

this guy did a TT setup and ran an 11.9, he may be someone you wanna talk to about it if you do go that way. All stock i believe less than $5k. Good Luck.

well actually the 99 up v6 T-5 is one of the strongest built and can stand just as much as the oem 5.0 T-5 its nearly a direct swap you have to swap the 99 up t-5's tail shaft over with the drive unit, no longer use drive gears on 99 up other than that its just a bolt on, the rear end is a 7.5... so you will want to use the 8.8 from the gt if you can cuz those gears wont work. you can build the 7.5 but if you plan on drag racing the car then you will want an 8.8 cuz the last v6 that did a twin turbo had an auto all stock with exhaust and TT put down masive power and ran in the 11s.
