Ok, finally did my big install
first up, BIG props to Wes Ratcliff (stanger007) for letting me use his tools, his house, and his experience to get this all done. I could not have done this without him.

Heres the modlist that we installed:

Trickflow Twisted Wedge heads, 2.02 intake valve, 1.60 exhaust
Trickflow stage 1 cam, 221/225 degree duration at .050, .499/.510 in., with a 1.6 rocker ratio, and a 112 degree lobe separation
    Trickflow 1.6 rockers
Trickflow Street Heat intake with 1 inch phenolic spacer
    BBK 75mm Throttlebody
    Mac longtube headers
    Trickflow valve covers
    24lb fuel injectors

Also did the misc stuff like timing chain, all new gaskets, pushrods, etc
Already had some things like high flow fuel pump..

Overall it was a very fun experience with some stressful and some easy going times. I got nervous near the end because I wanted to finish so bad and not have my car in Wes's way all week long.

We had a few snags, like needing hose clamps, having problems getting upper intake bolted in due to lack of space, new vacuum tubes, but nothing we couldnt overcome.

Big issue was my Mac prochamber did not get close to fitting...it may be for a fox body or a 4.6 mustang. Im gonna have to order one and get it asap so we can have car driving this weekend. Also I need to get a new thermostat gasket cause it was leaking bad.

We did manage to get the car started using a base cobra tune and it seemed to idle pretty dang good once we got the timing set right. It was deafening running open headers though, sounded like a drag car lol

    On to the pics!
Instead of posting them all and making you scroll thru dozens, heres a link to each day

    Eric would have been proud.

:nice: on a well thought out install - went pretty smooth I'd say.

    Nice!

I'm doing this same install this Fall, so can't wait to find out how it works out for so many others who are doing it too.

Are you getting a dyno tune or doing it yourself?

Going to be using the Tweecer, I dont have a wideband, so I may either hit up a dyno or maybe save up for a wideband, but I just had to spend 315$ on a mac prochamber (RAPE!) so It may be a while..

hey do me a favor ... when you get the prochamber, can you measure how far the pipes are apart? you know, center to center?

i want one, but there were too many questions about it and i just wanted the car back, so i just went with a magnaflow x pipe for now

and which one are you going with, the 2 1/2" one?

Ill measure my old prochamber and my new one
I need to figure out if the one that doesnt fit is for a foxbody or a 4.6 motor

Is there a cheaper alternative for the Prochamber that would allow you to put funds towards a WB?

It sounds like a nice install (must be lots of pics - dial-up laughed at me). It's cool to have good friends to help eachother out like that. :nice:

Looks good. I really like the black compared to the silver. I did my old fox with the silver and the cobra with the black and it definately makes a difference. good luck with the prochamber issues.

I would definatly save for a wideband as opposed to going to a dyno, its so much easier just to go out and see what shes doing than have to setup a time and only get 3 pulls for 100 bucks, while I was tuning my WOT afr, it took at least 5-10 good runs to finally get it nice and flat and perfect, but I was new to the whole tuning thing too.

I crawled out under both our cars and tried to measure best I could (my car was out in rain so I measured it twice and called it quits). Best I can tell, my LT's are 17-18" apart whereas sage2k's are about 19" apart, measuring center to center

I've got the 1 5/8" HTS coated Macs - I think sage2k is supposed to have the 1 5/8" in ceramic. Both of us have the prochamber.

Sam - how much off was your prochamber when we lined it up? Was it about 2" -- I can't remember now. I'll get a more official measurement on my car when it stops raining.

IIRC, some peeps have said bbk and mac stuff usually does not fit
all that well when you mix them

We're dealing with all MAC products here.

I went out and jacked the cars up - now both sets of longtubes look to be about 18.5" apart exactly from center to center.

Disregard my earlier measurements when I was lying on the ground in the rain -- I am dumb. :bang:

Sorry about adding to the confusion :bang:

My Mac LT's and Mac cat mid pipe fit perfect :nice:
    but
My catback is still oem

Wonder if there is something unusual about the Pro Chamber

EDIT: My longtubes + prochamber fit perfect as well - no complaints. Also, his longtubes went in and bolted up great - we had them in and bolted up within about 20min. Using the good ole' Grady bolt and lockwasher. FWIW, I've got the same bolt/lockwasher combo on my headers and they haven't had any problems. Heatcycle them and retorque and you are good to go.

Back on topic -- Sage2k got his prochamber used - not sure if it's really a 94-95 piece or a fox piece. I think he's got it with him because I can't find it in my shop. If I do have it, it grew legs. :)

Once he measures it, we'll know for sure.

Screw an exhaust I'm still trying to talk him into running open headers around town lol. Hearing is overrated.

    Wes
