alrighty like the title says i need help building up my 90GT i picked it up before boot camp for $1000 engine in good shape (dad inspected he's car smart not me) i've been reading books on mustangs and how everything works i want to start investing money into my babe, I'm only a PFC in the USMC so i have a budget. This is also my daily driver so i can't put to much under the hood however where i'm at i don't need any smog test only safet check.
it seems that especially with the 302 some parts just don't hit it off with others, like certain combos of parts work the best, right now i have this on paper and $ in hand for it all

    Ford GT40P heads
    Ford Racing E303 Cam
    For racing 3.73 gears
    BBK Long tube headers
    custom exhaust

in the future i plan on getting a super charger (reason for the e303 heads) as well as gettin a aftermarket block

does anyone have a idea about either somehting else to get or perhaps a different option that would work better? the supercharger will not be for a long time

Traction and weight reduction, with those other mods 12's will be easy.

If all you do is what is listed, you'll need the S/C.

what else will be needed to get into the 12's without it
S/C aren't the cheapest thing and like i said i'm not the richest man e-2 in the marine corp don't make much money if you could maybe point out a few parts i would be greatful
my dad is very very knowledgeable about cars but pontiacs are more his thing
he has a 05 GTO thats what i'm competing against hehe even my mom has a 5.7 hemi in her Jeep Commander how am i the marine of the family and have the smallest enigne and the least power? lol it needs to change

an Explorer GT-40 intake would work good with the mods you listed. You should find one for $125 or less. Tons of info on this site about it.

with what you have listed 12's shouldnt be a problem on slicks, you dont need a blower to run 12's. Theres plenty of guys running stock combos and high 12's, its cheaper to take weight out of the car than it is to make HP, so keep that in mind

your gonna have to drive it like a rental car... but thats half the fun :D

What you listed sounds good, add some headers, intake, TB, MAF and you should have a nice solid set up. The cam is actually not that important either, a stocker works well with those heads!

Right, I'd leave the stock cam in there for now as well.

Add roller rockers onto your GT 40 heads instead.

    Here's what I did and ran 12.9's @ 104 in a lx trunk

    Get real full length headers
    Good pipes with flowmasters
short belt for the track (skips ac ect.)
    3.73 gears with southside bars
    10.5 inch slick
beat the crap out of it, launch at 5000 and powershift all the way....

    that should do it....

Being an SN95 5.0 owner, I love the Fox crowd... You guys are all about the 'drive the **** out of it' style! I'd love seeing more Foxes on the road around my area running 12's at the track without all this fancy h/c/i BS.

OP, honestly, just spray it. Give the motor a little 75 shot, some 3.73 or 4.10 gears, and make sure you can hook and drive! That motor will eat up the spray, and love every minute of it with a good tune! :nice: Not saying you'll run a 12 flat with that setup, but 12's should come with ease with around 275 at the wheels, only around, what, 3,200 lbs or so, and traction. Some good tires for a basic setup are the Mickey Thompson drag radials. A friend of mine ran them in the 1/8th on his 5.0 with exhaust/gears and 125 shot, and ran consistent 7.6's in the 1/8th. Stock rear end, and he daily drove his car and tracked it twice a week - never messed up the rear end, and he drives like a madman on the street and strip.

    to 302 gts

I'll give you an example how fox cars can go with no big money parts....

If your from Tor you might know this car
87 black lx hatch owners name was ted
prpbably wont believe me but its the truth
set it up for nhra stock rules, which are

    untouched motor
    battery in trunk
    open headers
    any rear end
    any suspension mods
    any gear
    any slick

all he did was make his own ram air and take out headlight
he has a 9 inch with 4.56 but with a taller slick
    12 by 28 tall
    90/10 in the front
    4 link in the rear

he shifted at 4600 cuz thats when the stock cam stops making power.

That hooked like hell and lifted the wheels a ft in the air.
    Best time (track record) 12.38 @ 107
    totally stock motor

he put on 100hp spray once for fun and went 11.2 @ 118

i ran into alil money =D
    so i'm looking at :
Trick Flow Specialties Top End Kit which includes:
    Trick Flow Specialties TFS-K514-360-350 - Trick Flow® 360 HP Twisted Wedge® Top-End Engine Kits for Ford 5.0L - Kit/Combo Contents - SummitRacing.com

then going with the Pypes shorty headers, Pypes the BEAST exhaust system

    3.73 gears

    Centerforce Dual Friction clutch

    getting my fly wheel resurfaced

getting rear seat delete as well as putting cheap bucket seats in (my seats aren't in the best shape)

not sure where to go with suspension though
    not very knowledgeable about that

If you have a supercharger on your car? You better be in the 11's at least. 12's is so easy, you dont even need to touch the motor.

Real long tube headers and amazing exhaust, 4.10 gear, a slick and there you go. I've had tonnes of friends do it. My bone stock 87, totally untouched, first time at the track. 14.0 @ 98

Met a guy once at the track in a 90GT stock motor, exhaust, 3.55's and a Vortech at 10lbs and he couldn't even get more than low 13's out of it. It was hillarious

    To Iyzak

Don't buy shortys, they suck. Go with Mac 1 5/8 long tubes. With that and your TFS combo (You have to have drag radials or a slick, thats so important) I think with a slick you might see high 11's. Thats just my opinion.

Looked at the TFS kit. They make it so easy these days. I don't know about that cam though.... Too small for my liking, not enough duration. Even ford b,x and z cams are better.

Duration at 050 inch Lift 221 int./225 exh
Valve Lift with Factory Rocker Arm Ratio 0.499 int./0.510 exh. lift
