Have y'all noticed much of a difference between tuning with 87 or 89 octane vs 93 with e7 heads and a centri blower w 6-8 lbs of boost? I'm also running a .512 lift cam if that's something to take into consideration.
Interesting read. All I know about in my expierience has been my cars always ran better with 93 oct and about 14-15* adv timing (n/a) or 10* with nitrous. I used to 50/50 mix 93/100 and bumped timing to 12* and a 150 shot(ran the best times ever with this). With your iron heads detonation is more likely than with alum heads. I don't know what your timing is/should be but I'd be reading the plugs routinely. As a rule of thumb I'd run the 93 as a safety factor even if it doesn't "make more power".
Risking cheap gas in a supercharged fox would be insane (IMO).
It's risk reward, cheap gas will save you a couple hundred bucks a year max, but a blown head gasket could cost thousands.
There is no fancy electronics on a fox to protect you from blowing it up like new cars have.
I bet if you went and put some 87 in it right now, put your foot to floor, it would ping (assuming the car isn't so loud you can't hear it).
Yeah I'm with y'all about the 93 for safety thing vs money saved, especially as little as its driven. Reading that article got the gears in my head turning kinda.
