Two trails of rubber from my II, thought I had an open rear.

As I' getting more comfortable with my 2.3 Turbo Mustang II, I started laying some rubber today working on launch techniques for my first trip to the track this Friday. I noticed that I had 2 paths of rubber, but I was pretty certain that I had an 8" rear with 3.40:1 gears (so says the door tag). I know it's not uncommon for there to be different parts in these cars than what came from the factory considering how old they are, but what are the chances that I laid 2 rubber tracks with an open?

Isn't there a trick to rotating the tires with both rear's off the ground? Like if one spins one way and the other the opposite way then you have an open? I'm going to try this so I can confirm.

It was incredibly solid while I was spinning the tires too.

P.S. I'm working on my launch so I don't spin the tires at the launch, just right before. Spinning tires never got anyone very far very fast :).

The chances of your car layin' two black stripes with an open rear end are much higher then having a factory mustang II Limited slip :rlaugh: I have had 8 Mustang II's, seen hundreds of them in scrap yards and car shows and I have never seen a limited-slip II. Like life from other planets, I am sure they exist, but until I see one..................

This may help though.

This may be helpfull as well, and as a bonus it is really funny!

My open rear in my 74 sometimes spun both. I bet if you get some traction ,or try launching from a different location it will revert back to single wheel squeel ,unless it is in fact a posi.Spin one tire ( off ground) the other will spin opposite(open). If it is a posi, then they both will spin in the same direction.
