Tx Locals, Brazoria

I'm a NY native that just relocated to southern Houston area.
What are the emissions requirements?
what I viewed on TX inspections site was very vague...
Refers to a visual inspection in one part and a sniffer in another...
Which one? both?
I have an after market exhaust that past westchester NY inspection, very strict. but no sniffer, plug in only.
Do OBDII cars get a sniffer in TX?
its a 2003 Cobra. Runs somewhat rich... by tune, by design
are long tubes legit here if plug in only?
thanks in advance for your help,
dave

I believe for your county you will have to pass the emissions check. Some counties don't do it but more and more are making it mandatory. For example your car is OBDII so all they will do is hook it up to a computer to run it for codes like they did in NY. If you have no cats on it they will know due to the computer finding the catalyst levels low, also if you have a tune to turn the CEL off they will know about it. *This is what I heard from one of the guys at the performance shops* Correct me if I am wrong!:nice:
Also yes Long tubes are legal in Texas. OBD I cars are the only ones that have to have the sniffer done. For visual inspection I have never had anyone get underneath my car to check for cats, they usually just drive it around honk the horn and check the windshield wipers.

Hope this helps and welcome to Houston!
