as i was driving a new noise appeared. it sounds like nails on a chalkboard or some sort of screech. it is there when the car is moving. when the car is completely stopped, the noise goes away. it is there even when its in nuetral rolling backwards at 1 mph. i have no idea what this is and any help would be great. thanks
I vote for it being the built in squealers on the brake pads. It makes the noise as long as the wheels are turning.
If pads are new and still thier than maybe shim moved common on rear disc .jack up 1 whl at a time and spin
Most, not all, brake pads are constructed with metal tabs that will start making a squealing noise (by contacting the rotor) once the pad gets so thin.
