Hey everybody. I don't know if anyone remembers, but a while back I had posted about parts being stolen from under my hood while my car sat in the driveway. Good news: got the parts back. Bad news: after starting the engine in its stripped state, permanent engine damage resulted and the 331 that once called my Fox's engine bay home has kicked the proverbial bucket. While getting the parts back AT ALL is a story in itself, we'll leave that out of it to protect parties that have since been arrested and publically humiliated. However, I am grateful that I didn't end up completely losing over $700 worth of parts. Thanks to the careful research of friends, those parts have come home again. We haven't ripped the engine out of the car yet, and we actually can't wait to see what things look like in there. From the way it sounds, and based on a few professional opinions, it seems as though a rod snapped. I'll keep everyone posted on this as events unfold. Looks like it's time for a Windsor-based 396!
It turned out to be a kid that until recently I called a 'friend'. He did it because I owed him 50 bucks. He got his, don't worry. PS - Too bad you don't live in CT... the Mustangs Unlimited here in Manchester has a low-mile factory inspected 3550 in the showroom for a grand.
im still perplexed as to how an engine can get taken from a car, doesnt that make alot of noise? but im glad to hear you got your stuff back? anyhting for sale?
Dude, because of your post on the stolen plenums I replaced my screws on the upper plenum cover with security screws that take a special tool to remove. I am saddened at your ordeal and know the frustration and complete, over-whelming anger towards the punk who victimized you. Because he was respnsible for the damage to the engine can he be held financially responsible? Maybe the courts would be willing to listen to your ordeal? Best of luck to you.
Thanks, man. I took a 302 block from him, a 306 short block, and a running 351C. Basically I got what I wanted from him - my parts back and the chance for him to reconcile. He tried... and I got a bunch of parts for the aggravation. He got kicked out of his house because of it and now he's out on a bunch of valuable parts. As far as selling parts go, if the heads are OK then I'll sell those, because they've been worked, plus all the parts that came from the engine originally... that's if anyone WANTS stock replacement stuff.
im not sure if you got that idea from that old thread, but that subject came up when i mentioned how much of a **** those 4 bolts were. The factory puts locktite on them or something. anyways, good idea, any pics?
