ok so ive got a 2001 v6 3.8L with BBK cold air intake, throttle body spacer, fuelmaxx performance chip, and some kind of aftermarket exhaust kit. not sure what kind it is though it was on when i bought the car. long story short i have a few leaks in it and its all rusted out. time to replace. im getting BBK shorty headers, but i dont know what kind of midpipe to get along with catback. i was thinking a catless Xpipe, but im worried about emissions. i know its illegal but i drop the clutch when the 5-0 rolls by. so basically my question is... catless? or cats. X pipe, or H pipe. i want a mean sound. very mean. please help me

on my 03 automatic v6 i got a catless h-pipe with dual flowmaster 40 series and it sounds pretty good to me...but on the top end it sounds a little too loud and crapy with no cats but still sounds good. i should have never cut my cats off but thats what i got...and i have had my exhaust touched by 3 different exhaust places..so i need to get my whole exhaust system re-done cuz i also have some leaks.

No cats on a V6 sounds like a dump truck when they drive by...horrible. Leave the cats on. If you want the V8 sound there is only really one solution...

Just put in a cat back Magnaflow duel - sounds much better than stock and has a low growl - not as deep as a GT but - it's not a GT

thanks for the opinions guys. i brought the car to the station today and they put it up on the lift. black marks all over the pipes. leaks everywhere and a huge seperation after the right cat. i think im going to go with a new X pipe (catted) and flowmaster super 40 catback. if money allows... ill keep it posted.

    what next

    YouTube - new flows

heres a vid with the new exhaust. custom X pipe with true duel flowmaster super 40s. obviously sounds better in person but you can definetly tell the difference from the video i previously posted. so my next question... is what do i invest in next? i have a bbk cold air intake, fuelmaxx performance chip, and a helix throttle body spacer. do i go for a custom tuner or a 65mm throttle body from bbk?
