Vibration Problems w/Flex Plate or trans, 351

Installed a 95 351W Lightning in place of an
HO 302 in front of an AOD.

Front pump went out right away.
Finally found out flexplate that came
with 351 although it bolted right up
incl the converter, positioned the
converter 1/4" back further which
caused the pump to go out.

Was out of town, so had a "reputable"
shop do a rebuild. While I was gone,
he turned it over to my wife who put
about 75 miles on it.

Trouble was that the auto parts place
had given him a 302 flywheel when he
had asked for a 351 flywheel. Of course,
it vibrated pretty badly, but he gave it
to my wife anyway (!!)

I discovered the error when I looked up
the part number on the box. I took it
back to him, he got the correct flex
plate (from an 89 Crown Vic with a 351W
and AOD, and installed it.

Still have the bad vibration - feels just
like it did with the wrong flex plate.

Could driving it with the wrong balance
flexplate have caused something to
go wrong inside the converter?

Or is there anything inside the transmission
itself that could be screwed up and
causing the vibration? It was basically
the OD band, and the forward and
intermediate clutch plates that were
bad, and it didn't have hardly any miles
at all on it since the engine swap.

The vibration changes with engine speed,
and does it in neutral as well as in gear.

I've checked the vibration damper and
it looks OK. The engine ran smooth as
silk before with the flex plate from the
pickup.

Thanks for any ideas!
