well i finally got my car back last night after a week and a half , (my 1st gear synchro was shot), now it shifts great ,but i would come to a stop on some backroads where i live, accelerate pretty good through the 5 gears to about 100 and when i would slow down i would smell this weird scent. i got this smell about 4 times. what the hell could this be?

is it my clutch? my trans. was just taken out to change the synchro and my shifter was readjusted by the svt dealer. i have 9k miles on the car now and im getting this funny smell. what do you guys think?

thiscar is really starting to **** me off. oh yeah, and my service engine light came on last night as well. does that have anything to do with it?

the guy at the delaer told me that maybe a sensor was plugged in wrong or something, causing the light to come on, now i have to go back on tuesday.

You are lighting off the Cat's, Burning out the qrap in your converters.
Some even seem to think its oil bolwing by but its not.
Sounding like a Ford service guy, (It's Perfectly Normal)
Drive it like you stole it, its nothing to worry about, it you drive around enought you will see someone who thinks they are a bad ass get on it in front of you and you will smell the very same odor.
You know some people see a Cobra and Think I'm a badd ass too.
    Its. cool.

    Motor on.... :flag:

By the way, your service engine light is probably being caused by the idiot tech guy breaking on of you o2 sensors when they pulled you H-Pipe,
    Bet ya $50.00

    Just more info:
I have a 2004 COBRA, and everyonce in a while, I smell a funny odor, and I have NO CATS.
I smelled it worse with cats, but now I just smell it everyonce in a while.
Its not simply exhaust fumes, or NEW CAR burn off.
    I have no clue...
Just wanted to let you know your not alone, and Its not your cats..

well the wiring on the 02 sensors came loose, so i had to wait for 2 hours while they discovered this and fixed it.

anyone else have any ideas about the smell?

does everyone have aftermarket catbacks? i know clearence on the passerger side around the gas tank is tight, and there is a plastic cover on the tank, my cats settled back on to it and melted the plastic. Thats the only smell i have hade on my 03.

My 03 smells a little funny when I really go for it.
The eaton creates load and heat....things get warm and you can smell it.
By the 2nd or 3rd run, the smell is gone.

I had to prove a point to a talon owner one day with mine. I probably reved it to 3500 or so and dumped the clutch. The tires lit up, and I guess I missed second or something(how I don't know it just reved though). I got a weird smell when I came to a stop, kinda freaked me out. I haven't done it since but I do drive the crap out of it, and have never noticed it again. Maybe when I finally get my prochamber on I can do it again, and rule out the cats.

Maybe I can shed some light on this for anyone with a T-56.

I have previously owned a 00 SS camaro and WS6. Both gave off a weird smell when I really jammed on it.

After I got my 03 Cobra I got the same exact smell when going through the gears....

So I think it might have something to do with the T-56 but im not positive.
