Here is what I just built....an 86 GT with a 96 explorer engine with real gt40 heads and a tfs#1 cam. Ignition is duraspark 1978 distributor, stock type 86 EFI coil, and a GM HEI module. What gap should I use on the plugs? I dont know if I should gap it to match the engine, the distributor, or the module's standards. I mean, the engine in the 96 explorer was probably a .052 gap, and the distributor and HEI module probably were used to a .035 gap, so what do I do here? I got some Champion plugs for a 96 explorer engine in a 12 heat range I am putting in it. Thanks

i would go with the motor's gapping requirements and go from there. gap them one size bigger than .052 and try it. remember, the 96 engine is probably a roller engine so don't forget to get a steel dizzy gear for the 78 dizzy. maybe the old 86 tf1 dizzy gear will fit on the 78's shaft, try that gear.
