Almost every single person I have met who has a 500-600-700 hp fox, talks about having the most fun with stock junk, running 12-13s. Bolting on the slicks to stock axles, beating the **** out of stock motors to run in the 12s etc... These are guys that have the nicest and best of the best too.

I am all for doing it "right" if/when you can. If/when you can't, or you don't intend to modify that part yet, go out and enjoy the car. Then when parts break upgrade!!!

I'm not trying to say that he or anyone else who runs stickies on stock axles is wrong for doing so, I'm just letting them know what the risks involved are. Some people may not know that stock axles are one of the first things to fail under the increased load.

I don't know what his financial situation is, but broken parts may mean downtime for his car. No one told me when I was 17 that T5s don't handle speed shifting very well, and when I broke my first T5, the car had to sit for 6 months while I saved up my nickles and dimes for a new trans. Huh. Wish someone would have told me that T5s are flimsy before I pulled that stunt. I think I might be doing this guy a favor by giving him a heads up, but whatever, lets keep encouraging him to beat up his car.

Also, I did not derail this thread single-handedly. Notice in my FIRST post that I DID give some advice on tire size.

I was happy as hell when i put Nitto 555R drag radials 275/40x17 on my 4 lug 17x8 inch 1995 Cobra R Wheels they fit with my quad shocks in normal position, close but they fit with no rub, i wanted mickys the same size but after researching i found out mickeys the same size 275/40x17 were actually a little wider tire i forgot how much but it would have hit the quad shock. Im glad cause i love the Nittos alot of people dont, but they work for me. As far as giving and opinion and advise, by all means i reseach alot of things on stangnet i dont think u can find a more knowledgeable group of stangers anywhere online ive found anything i have ever did a search on been able to get a good answer from multiple opinions:nice::SNSign:

This may intrest the OP and possibly a few others, I needed to lower my rpm going through the lights so I bought a set of 255x60x15`s to replace my still good 275x50x15`s. Went to the track today and did my best 60' a 1.55 my old best was 1.56 I know its not much but my point is I gave up nothing and have less rpm at the big end and I think I may be able to put on those quad shocks I have laying around.
For any who may care I ran 11.43, 11.452, 11.452

Wish I was anywhere but here

Further to this derailment - yep you are so right. I had so much fun beatin the poor **** out of a stock, slightly modded stick car. Now it's gotten to the point of no return. So yeah just do what ever brings you the most enjoyment.

sweet times. I was thinking of swapping out sizes to0. But I'm going through the traps at 5600 which maybe ideal? What was you before and after rpm?

Before 6700 and after 6500 rpm, the best part is my 60's stayed about the same and im still right close to my best of 11.39 with the other tires.

Soooo true. Some folks on here would have a heart attack if they know what we were driving today :D
I've heard that a lot too. I have a blast with my car the way it is. I drive it everywhere and anywhere, I beat the living **** out of it, get close to 20mpg around town, and never lose races. But it's definitely not fast enough.
