I am looking for better traction at the track (look at my sig to see my mods). I have CS67 wheels, they are 20x9 in the front and 20x10 in the rear. I want an overall uniform and good look at the track but also want performance. NOTE: I am looking for a track setup only, I have my 20" rims for street use. Here are some of the options I was thinking over: A) Get the 17x8.5 CS67 wheels to match the style and put on MT 26x11.5x17 ET Streets. This would give me a 26.5 diameter tire and put me between 5.7k-5.9k rpm in the trap. B) Get Nitto 555R drag radials and put them on my 20x10 rims. This would give me a 28.65 diameter tire and put me between 5.2k-5.4k rpm in the trap. C) Get the MT ET Street Radial II (265/40/18) and put them on a CS67 18x9.5 rims. This would give me a 26.5 diameter tire and put me between 5.7k-5.9k rpm in the trap. D) Get the MT ET Street Radial II (305/45/18) and put them on a CS67 18x9.5 rims. This would give me a 28.8 diameter tire and put me between 5.2k-5.4k rpm in the trap. E) Do something different. What do you think?
I have the 265/40-18 MT ET Streets on the 8.5" Fanblade and the fit is really good. I don't know if it would be practical to mount it on the 9.5" wheel??? I don't believe Nitto DRs are great for track duty. Their harder compound allows them to provide very good dry traction on the street and last longer than most other DRs. 20" wheels and DRs shouldn't be used in the same sentence. IMO, it's mostly about the look. Sure they will have a sticky tread, but there isn't much sidewall to flex and help launch the car. Of your choices, the 305/45-18 on the 9.5" wheel looks best. Here are some pics of my track duty shoes...
