The sticker price on my 5spd Premium 2005 GT was $28,315, but that included the $195 bright machined aluminum wheels, not the bullits. I also had a $1600 trade-in which reduced it to just under $27,000, but with tax, tag, license and other dealer fees, it came up to about $28,500.
I wanted to get the Mustang so quickly that I forgot about the X-plan, which I could've gotten through my job.
    Oh well!!
I was lucky to get MSRP because, at the time (June 2005), dealers couldn't keep GTs on the lot fast enough so they were charging $1,000s over MSRP and people would still buy it. Thats how hot they were.
I'm sure your brother will be able to get a good discount with the X-plan if he can get it.
    Best of luck.

I just checked out a Premium GT convertible online under x-plan and it would mean about $2800 off sticker. I had hoped to hold out for a GT500, but with the dealer markup and the fact that the wife just got a job with UPS making us eligible for x-plan I may just go for it this summer. I'd probably drive the GT alot more and not stress near as much over dings and scratches.

I just joined the forum since I am considering the purchase of a new 06 GT...not the GT500. I want the standard audio and cloth seats. My Vic has leather which looks and smells good but makes me sweat.

Anyway, I was wondering how much dealers are willing to come off sticker. I may consider trading in my immaculate 03 Vic Sport with 96K miles. They probably don't really want it and will offer some insulting trade-in quote to make me go away.

    I'll keep you posted...

Sounds like you already know it, but no dealer wants a trade in with 96K miles on it no matter how good the condition. They will offer you peanuts, about what they expect it would go for when sent to auction.

As far as what you will pay for your 06 GT, it totally depends on the dealer. Some dealers are still trying to get $5K over MSRP for GTs while other dealers are selling GTs for a few hundred $$ over invoice.

My dealer in Kansas City is selling GT's just around invoice, but they move a lot of cars over there. Sticker on my premium GT with IUP, 18" polished bullets, and side airbags was just under $29K.

I just purchased mine(see sig for options). I received the Aplan price 23847, tax title 25513. I believe Ford on 07 models are starting 500 over invoice. I heard that discussion, can't confirm. Good luck!

When a dealer sells a vehicle under plan pricing does Ford compensate them for the discount? If so can you bargain down from the plan price? X-plan discount off of MSRP seems to be pretty close to invoice from the figures I've seen. If so it seems you could do just as well at some dealers just haggling over invoice price.

When purchasing under a plan, like X plan, the price is fixed by Ford. The dealer is paid a fixed amount for the X sale. There is NO negotiating discount from X price. In general at the beginning of a model year X is a good deal because many dealers do not want to give big discounts on the new models. By the end of the model year you can often do as well if not better than X plan negotiating with the dealer.
