That's a tough one. My first Mustang was a '65 fastback and I absolutely loved the look of the roofline. If I ever get the chance, I'd love to own another one. But I had to vote for the '67-'68's because they have all the classic early Mustang styling but they're a bunch easier to work on due to the bigger engine bay. I don't have a big block in mine, but I can tell you this much: I had to unbolt the motor and lift it up to get the headers in my '65 but I had the headers in my '68 in the car within 15 minutes without so much as a scratch or a cuss word!
I can't pick just one. I like the 65/66 (specifically 66 verts) because they're kind of cute. I like the dash, grille & chrome side scoop decorations of the 66 better than the 65. I like the 67 (coupe or fastback) because they're a little meaner looking than the 65/66. I also like the grille, dash, hood turn signals, and louvers in the side scoops. I like the 69 (specifically fastback) because . . . well darn it! I don't have a reason, I just like them. I do like the hidden headlights of the 70, but overall, I like the 69 better. And I don't really dislike the 71 - 73, but I don't like them enough that I'd ever really want to go out and buy one. If someone gave me one for free, I might keep it. -Chelle
Could not have said it better my self. I like all the unique things about the 67 the side scoops the aluminum interior. The smooth lines like the early cars with no marker lights to mess-up the lines. More room everwhere but not so big that it loses what the mustang started out as and don’t get me started on trans am racing.
69-70. fastbacks have the looks, sound and comfort. I have been lucky enough to have owned a 68,69,70,71 all fastbacks and a 73 vert.I love all the early styles but am tall and feel most comfortable riding and working on the 69-70 era.
I voted 64-66 because I own a 65. However, I like the 69 Mach 1 too and would have voted for 69-70 as well if it were possible.
69-70 absolutely the meanest most aggressive, and most comfortable of all the years, however, the 65-66's are a close second.
64-1/2 to 70. When it comes right down to it, my mind keeps changing between the 67 FB and the 69 FB. the 69 is just such a classic beauty talk about perfection, but then if I did a 67 I would do a red with white stripes shelby clone which is even more wicked that the 69. I can't decide.
71-73's are the only real musce cars of the bunch. The rest were pony cars. I like to think of my 72 as a clydesdale
Wouldn't the '69-'70 Boss 429 Mustangs kinda qualify as musclecars? Or the '67 GT500, or the '68 1/2 Cobra Jet Mustangs?
