Does anyone know for fact where to get a tach signal for a shift light in the 05 Mustang. I've talked with MSD, AutoMeter and quite a few performance shops and no one knows.

    Thanks,

You need to tap the negative side of one of the coil packs. If you are trying to hook up a standard type shift light, you need a tach adapter for the Ford COP.

Find a wiring diagram for the EEC, there is most likely a tach wire coming into it. Saves you from having to run your own wire through the firewall.

Rootus, there's no tach wire to the PCM. The tach signal is sent over the databus.

Mmm. Cool :nice:. I was just guessing, wasn't sure how much they had changed since '03.

Yea, already looked for the line going to the EEC. Found out just what he's saying. I have a AutoMeter tach adapter. I wonder if I need to get the Ford tach adapter? Have you wired one of these up? I've tried wiring to the coil pack. I could only get the light on at crank up, but not at the rpm's specified by the pill.
