I saw a video on the new eaton sc, now I don't know if I will wait even longer. I am really leaning towards a kenne bell, for several reasons. I do wonder why ford uses the whipple, and while I want a twin screw, why does shelby use procharger? Is the whipple that much better than kenne bell? I"m six months out on purchasing the thing, what do you all think? Doc
What are your goals with the car? 10's? Faster? The KB or the Whipple are easily capable of 11 and 10 second timeslips. I like the whipple kit because it came with the GT500 dual pumps, it really is a complete kit. That being said, you can make plenty of power with the KB as well--just depends on what you want, and what direction your going to take the car in the future. (Daily driver, weekend warrior, track?) Here, this video is for you: http://videos.streetfire.net/video/c7c8ce41-0bce-464e-a89b-99ea0023600d.htm That was when I was at 511rwhp---now I have a couple more tricks up my sleeve and I am at 577rwhp--through an auto with a 2.3. KB has a 2.6H.
It would help to know what I want to do with the car, huh? I should have put that in my post. The car is a daily driver, unless it's away for maine winter. I am starting to autocross with the car, but mainly it's just my driver that I want to stomp on once in a while. I drove a friends cobra r, and since then my car hasn't seemed all that powerful! I pretty much want that seat in the pants take off feeling. I watched a corvette on the highway, and he was eating anything around him, not even trying. So in a nutshell, I just want the car to be fun, autocross and I don't see it at the track. many thanks, Doc
Are you sure you're just not prevaricating for no good reason? The reason I ask is that I live in the UK and sold a C5 Z06 and bought the Mustang and fitted a Vortech chargecooled supercharger rated at 462hp and fitted D-Specs and Roush springs. My friend still has his C5 Z06 and the two cars are pretty even when we go blasting across South Wales and through the hills. Being a centrifugal, you have to work the gearbox but then the gearbox is much better than the Z06 anyway. Mine feels a little ordinary at times low down and you have to use the box but it is mental at the top end and it's only familiarity that makes it seem sometimes slower than it is. It's never been short on the funometer gauge and I'm into fast road work and handling more than trying to break it up in a straight line. I'm sure the KB is better than the Vortech but it seems to me that for what you want, just about any supercharger and uprated suspension will give you what you're looking for? The non-intercooled Vortech turned in a 13 second dead quarter when they tested it. I have never really had a feeling that I wanted the C5 Z06 back in terms of performance and I prefer the handling of the Mustang - the Corvette just has more grip ultimately and better brakes.
Ok, then you may want to research what the autocross guys are running. Twinscrews are awesome at the track with the right tire, but not so sure about autocross. I will say twinscrews are the best for that "seat in the pants take off feeling", and it will definitely make the car fun. But, in the end, if all you want is a fast car any of the superchargers can accomplish that.
