I have a 05 Black GT with dark charcoal interior, so black on black and want to tint up the windows. My tint guy says 35%(the legal limit here in NY) will look very dark since its a black car with black interior and it will still be legal in the front windows. Im def. going 20% for the rear quarter's and back window, im just trying to figure out the best option for the front windows. I wouldnt mind putting 20% on I just dont wanna get pulled over every 5 minutes, especially if 35% is legal and looks very dark. So, can someone with my same options post pics of their tints? thanks!

How's your guy's tint looking now? I know that these Mustangs seem to devour tint that is placed on the driver's and passenger's windows after you roll them up and down a few times. I have a black Mustang and would love to put tint on the windows except im worried it will look like crap after i roll the window down :(

20% is not too dark, though it is illegal. I've had 20% on (all but the windshield) on my last three cars and have really like it. I think the trick is to NOT put the 6" strip on the windshield. The police just seem to home in on the strip as you are approaching and give the car the "inspection". My first car, I had 35% all the way around, all legal, with the 6" strip on the front, and when driving by, it just appeared to be tinted more because the strip set it off as a car that had DEFINITELY been tinted. I've been running 20% for many years, and have never been questioned or tested. And it's not too dark at night to look through. Anything lighter than 20% just doesn't even looked tinted, unless it's mixed with some darker tint on the back windows, but then if you have different levels on one side, it shows.

Also, to keep the door window's tint looking good, have the tint shop install a felt strip. Unlike most cars, the 05 Stang doesn't come with one. Should be around $30 bucks for both windows, and most "Good" tint shops should carry it.
