Windshield Q??

So I haven't even had my car 48 hours....going down the highway, and a semi chucked a rock into my windshield and cracked it
I've been calling around to get it repaired and I have a guy that is telling me since the 02 windshields are pretty spendy, I can put an 01 windshield in and it will work the same for less cash.
Has anyone had this done? Or do you know if they are the same?

call another place and check again, cuz we just put a 99 windshield on my buddy's 02, they are exactly the same. never heard of them bieng different

All '99-'04 are the same. You should be fine. Semi trucks are dangerous, especially towards mustangs. Mine got side swiped my a semi last year.
