i found a decent looking '84 SVO with need of paint and has a lil' rust by the sunroof, dont know details on it though. interior looked fine and the person said it drives well. i'm just an automatic guy, bwaha, so i'd look at having a c4 built for it.
I don't know if I would consider it murder, but you might have to COMMIT murder to get a 2.3 C4 bell-housing.
lol, haha. well i know stinger sells 2.3-sbf bell housing adapters but he wasnt sure what exactly would be needed. he sells clutches and whatnot for t5's and t56's to make them work but i like automatics, so yeah.
i havent bought it, dont know if i will, depends how much i can talk him down from $2900. i have a 2.3t drivetrain with the t5 out of a TC but just the t5, no pedals or anything.
Wow...I hope you like loading up that little turbo every chance you get, because as much of a dog as these cars were in stock trim with a 5-speed, it's going to be a real dog with all of that turbo lag and an automatic. I personally don't think you'll like driving it afterwards, but that's just me?
It's not THAT bad. I've got a C4 behind my 2.3T. I often find myself at 0" Hg while accelerating with traffic, but you know you are only having fun once the needle passes 1psi. I've driven both, and a high power 2.3 is a lot easier to control with an automatic. The torque hits hard and suddenly on these turbo engines, so it is very easy to break the tires loose with a manual. It's also very difficult to get a good launch on a 5sp without either blowing away the tires or bogging badly. Both these give the advantage to the auto. HOWEVER, for a stockish engine, I'd definately keep the manual, it will feel a lot more lively and more fun to drive. Besides, that, a C4 sucks on the highway, especially with the current gas prices!
It wouldn't be murder, but definitely a capital crime. Okay, okay, a C4-equipped SVO on the road is better than one being parted out or rotting in a backyard. SVOs aren't exactly monuments to fuel economy to start with.
i'm just more of a 1/4 & cruising person so a tough c4 would be nice. i already have a 2.5t shadow, auto, so i know what it's like to drive a car like it. and the car would in no way remain too stock, the guy already did some stuff like a TC i/c, BOV, 255 fuel pump, adj.fpr, 35# injectors, 8au ecu, .63 air research turbo. i'm not sure about the ecu's, though, is that from a later 2.3t like my '88 TC ecu? it'd need paint and rust taken care of from the sunroof drains. he's asking $2900obo, i was thinking about offering $2k but i dont know if this would be too much of a lowball. it would also need new tires as the owner says a little over half tread.
