Ok well I just got my car back yesterday, got a new motor put in. Well it was rainging hard so i was driving slow as he11. All the sudden my car just spun out of control, no time to do anything. Well the car ended up in a ditch after spinning 2 times around. My question is, has anyone ever had about one to two inches of water in their car and repaired it. I'm worried they are gonna total it or that it will never be the same. Everything else seems fine, just mud and grass, everywhere, and I mean everywhere. The front driver fender needs to be replaced along with the front and back bumpers. I'm ok by the way, so thank god for that.
It won't get totalled. There was a flash flood in a local creek a few years back and several people had cars that had 6-8 inches of mud washed into them and they didn't get totalled. One guy had a totally restored 60's Mopar that got washed right through the back of his garage and got filled with mud and water and they paid to clean it up and fix the damage. The local high school right next the the creek had over 12" of mud in one wing of the school.
They may need to change the computer if the standing water got to that level, but after the cleanup you should be good to go.
I've never heard of somebody driving slow as hell then just all of a sudden the car goes out of control.
Totally sux. Musta been scary driving into a watery, muddy ditch. Let us know how much it costs to clean that ****** out
Glad you ok. Last April the same thing happened to me. A freak rainstorm came out of nowhere, and while taking a turn at about 20mph my car spun out without warning. Traction control and ABS couldn't save me. Cracked my front bumper and a headlight flew out. Yay!
*See my story above* I also have a friend that had a v6 convertible Mustang that spun out and rolled into a ditch getting onto a freeway on-ramp. Even if he was stepping on it (he swears he wasn't), that car was a challenge to "break loose."
I agree. I think that's what caused my accident. Still raining, I took a Jeep Cherokee through the same turn that got me and it too spun a tire just a bit.
"Nitto 555 (275/40/17)(front) & Nitto 555R (315/35/17s)(rear)" Judging by his tire sizes, my guess would be he hydroplained it
Somewhat of the same thing happened to me... I was taking a turn, and unknown to me, there was an accident where I was turning roughly 20 minutes beforehand, and NOBODY decided to clean all the oil/gasoline up. It was raining hard, I took the turn, shifted into second halfway through and gave it as much throttle as I usually do, and the back end came RIGHT around. I spun twice and came to a stop facing the other way. Cop saw what happened and pulled up next to me and told me that they haven't had a chance to clean the oil yet...THANKS OFFICER.
