Moral here, don't throw objects at people's cars for no reason. If someone did that to my Mustang, when I just spent 3 grand on a new paint job, I'd probably be really hot headed. The issue isn't the shooter who lost his cool, the issue is the egg throwing.
Had the teens stayed home (in both stories above), minded their own business, this would've never happened. The shooters didn't go out with the mindset they were gonna shoot somebody. Thus their actions weren't premeditated. The kids actions were premeditated, however. The shooters were simply minding their own business. Did the simple act of driving down the street to get home or run any errands warrant someone to throw eggs at their vehicles?
Let alone, a guy got hit IN THE FACE by a 40 mph projectile. HE received a very nasty sting and smack from the egg. Those do hurt like hell when they impact. The guy in Indianapolis probably lost all sense of reality when being hit in the face with an egg.
Wanna know the funny thing? I've been told countless times, these deaths could've been prevented had the kids not run like cowards. In both cases, all the teens ran when someone stopped their vehicle. Why run? They vandalized someone's property for no reason. Running away just shows the guilt and unwillingness to accept responsibility for their vandalizing acts. The shooters would probably not shoot at the kids if they had stayed where they were and apologized profusely. Had they simply stated they would wait there for the police to arrive, the shooters rage would decrease tenfold. But they ran, which provoked the shooters into wanting to get some retribution. Had the kids gotten away, they would never be caught for these acts. This only motivated the shooter to get some retribution before they got away.
I mean, the shooters were only minding their own business, and probably went on the "eye for an eye" principle.
I don't think a death sentence would warrant for simple eggs, but the simple truth is the kids were mostly to blame. Had they not thrown eggs, instead at someone's house playing video games, there would be no shooting. The shooters would be unprovoked and the teens would still be alive.
I am tired of the "kids will be kids" persona. They willingly vandalized property for no reason, and expected to get away with it, laughing and snickering all the way home. Some of us work very hard to maintain and keep our "love" in tip top shape. To have someone egg our love of life, it is more than just a simple prank. That's money out of our pocket, increased aggrevation, all just to be the butt of some teens joke. What do the parents of these teens want us to do? Get out of the car, see the egg, then see the cowards running away unwilling to face responsibility, and simply yell "it's ok you egged my car, it's only hundreds of bucks out of my pocket to replace the dent and cracked paint...kids will be kids...go on home and I won't do anything to you...because I don't want your overzealous parents to sue me for everything I have."
Give me a break. The guy who got hit in the face by the egg in Indianapolis should've received a MUCH lighter sentence. With the condition that he will seek anger management help and take medication. Don't throw away the key for gods sake. Everyone is overlooking the simple start of this situation. It wasn't the shooter who started this whole thing. It was the kid who hit the shooter in the face, angering the shooter beyond all means that caused it.
Stupid is, stupid does. Stupid for the egger to be egging moving vehicles, stupid does for using a gun in a non lethal matter. The kid took the bull by the horns and got the worst. The shooter did the same and fare not much better. As a proud owner of a restored mustang, I can totally relate with these people who are tired of gen Y vandals throwing eggs at our hard work. Laws are laws. The kids broke the law and suffered the consequences. The shooter broke the law and suffered the consequences. Thats all I can say.
I just hope future kids learn from these recent spate of shootings. Leave the mischief to popping gum in class or pissing on toilet paper in the school bathroom. It may just save your life!
