Moral here, don't throw objects at people's cars for no reason. If someone did that to my Mustang, when I just spent 3 grand on a new paint job, I'd probably be really hot headed. The issue isn't the shooter who lost his cool, the issue is the egg throwing.

Had the teens stayed home (in both stories above), minded their own business, this would've never happened. The shooters didn't go out with the mindset they were gonna shoot somebody. Thus their actions weren't premeditated. The kids actions were premeditated, however. The shooters were simply minding their own business. Did the simple act of driving down the street to get home or run any errands warrant someone to throw eggs at their vehicles?

Let alone, a guy got hit IN THE FACE by a 40 mph projectile. HE received a very nasty sting and smack from the egg. Those do hurt like hell when they impact. The guy in Indianapolis probably lost all sense of reality when being hit in the face with an egg.

Wanna know the funny thing? I've been told countless times, these deaths could've been prevented had the kids not run like cowards. In both cases, all the teens ran when someone stopped their vehicle. Why run? They vandalized someone's property for no reason. Running away just shows the guilt and unwillingness to accept responsibility for their vandalizing acts. The shooters would probably not shoot at the kids if they had stayed where they were and apologized profusely. Had they simply stated they would wait there for the police to arrive, the shooters rage would decrease tenfold. But they ran, which provoked the shooters into wanting to get some retribution. Had the kids gotten away, they would never be caught for these acts. This only motivated the shooter to get some retribution before they got away.

I mean, the shooters were only minding their own business, and probably went on the "eye for an eye" principle.

I don't think a death sentence would warrant for simple eggs, but the simple truth is the kids were mostly to blame. Had they not thrown eggs, instead at someone's house playing video games, there would be no shooting. The shooters would be unprovoked and the teens would still be alive.

I am tired of the "kids will be kids" persona. They willingly vandalized property for no reason, and expected to get away with it, laughing and snickering all the way home. Some of us work very hard to maintain and keep our "love" in tip top shape. To have someone egg our love of life, it is more than just a simple prank. That's money out of our pocket, increased aggrevation, all just to be the butt of some teens joke. What do the parents of these teens want us to do? Get out of the car, see the egg, then see the cowards running away unwilling to face responsibility, and simply yell "it's ok you egged my car, it's only hundreds of bucks out of my pocket to replace the dent and cracked paint...kids will be kids...go on home and I won't do anything to you...because I don't want your overzealous parents to sue me for everything I have."

Give me a break. The guy who got hit in the face by the egg in Indianapolis should've received a MUCH lighter sentence. With the condition that he will seek anger management help and take medication. Don't throw away the key for gods sake. Everyone is overlooking the simple start of this situation. It wasn't the shooter who started this whole thing. It was the kid who hit the shooter in the face, angering the shooter beyond all means that caused it.

Stupid is, stupid does. Stupid for the egger to be egging moving vehicles, stupid does for using a gun in a non lethal matter. The kid took the bull by the horns and got the worst. The shooter did the same and fare not much better. As a proud owner of a restored mustang, I can totally relate with these people who are tired of gen Y vandals throwing eggs at our hard work. Laws are laws. The kids broke the law and suffered the consequences. The shooter broke the law and suffered the consequences. Thats all I can say.

I just hope future kids learn from these recent spate of shootings. Leave the mischief to popping gum in class or pissing on toilet paper in the school bathroom. It may just save your life!

lol i was talken about that about a week ago... when it headlined on the news the 1st thing i thought of was ryan.. cuz he wasnt on hardly that week.. lol i dont think i would go as far as taking lives.. maybe just a good smack around, or 10..

they should be out learing about mustangs instead of playing video games, they're a waste...and what if the two kids that got shot were the little brother of the actual egg thrower(s), and never even threw an egg...sometimes kids dont think when they do something, and ***** happens...i feel bad for their families

Egg will wash off of a car and your face. a gunshot wound that pierces your heart wont. I hope that guys gets an entire brookmstick shoved up his ass in prison.

Lesson Learned?

Don't throw eggs at crazy people. If you are not sure who is and is not crazy, then don't throw eggs at all.

Stupid jocks. I don't count a 15 year old as a "kid". He should have known something was going to happen. He shouldn't have been shot at though, a trip to the D-Home would have served him well.

You know after year 15 that guy is gonna be thinking "damn, it was just an egg, I wish I didnt do that" He not only took someone elses life away but he also took away his own.

I guess I have a problem feeling bad for "kids" like this. Do I think they should have been killed? Of course not. Do I think that any one of those kids that were in those groups will ever attempt to vandalize anything again??? Not a chance. I guess if someone would take responsibility for the kids actions, I would be much more understanding. 81 years in prison is rediculous as well. As someone said, if the kids would have just stopped and acknowledged what they did, the result may not have been what it was. I do not condone shooting at unarmed anybody unless your life is somehow in danger, but at the same time, I do not think that all the sympathy should go to the criminal. Kids these days are able to get away with so much more without consequence. I am willing to bet that the shooter had probably been in a similar situation where he couldn't retaliate and then finally just snapped. Crappy deal for all involved. meh.

Egg just doesn't wash off...

I've had my car egged in the middle of the night, along with other cars in an egging spree. My first thought was I wanted to kill the bastard that did this. What did I ever do to these punks that did that? Nothing. Even worse, people get egged while driving. What did they ever do to these teens? Nothing.

Egg doesn't just wash off. It leaves dents, it eats away at paint. It potentially blinds people who get hit in the face. It leaves nasty bruises at impact. It is very humiliating. It stings like crazy. I doubt the last thing going through the Indianapolis shooters mind was the safety of those kids. Since they violated his personal safety with no regards to his property, I doubt he was gonna go easy on them. I mean, after all, he was ONLY egged in the FACE.

Point made real simple. Had they not run like cowards and stayed put allowing the police to be called, the shooter(s) in both situations would have not shot them. Otherwise, they'd get away laughing the whole time...going unpunished. While the guy gets to deal with egg dripping from his face and throbbing pain. Hmmmm, sounds like punishment because the guy was going about minding his own business. The kids are clearly at fault in this one. No they didn't deserve to get shot at. BUT, they caused themselves to be shot at. This wouldn't have happened had they minded their own business meaning no vandalism against people who are innocent. I have no sympathy for someone who brought those circumstances upon themselves. They didn't deserve to get shot at, but I don't feel sorry for them. They were the cause of this whole thing. It aggrevates me when everyone overlooks that aspect. Pointing fingers at someone who naturally won't act normal for getting egged in the face. He surely wont get out smile and say...oh I just got egged in the face and nearly blinded...kids will be kids and go on. That is NOT a realistic expectation of how to act when egged in the face.

The parents also need to quit making excuses for their kids. Saying "it was ONLY an egg," is the wrong thing for a mother to say. How about "one of the kids died because of stupidity, I hope others learn from this. I am sorry the shooter had to be at the brunt of this reckless act." Hell would freeze over before the parent(s) accepted responsibility for these kid's egg throwing escapade. I'll bet if the kids got caught without a scratch on them, the parents wouldn't feel sorry for the person who got egged in the face. They would care more about the fact the guy didn't do anything to punish their kid and their kid being unharmed. They would probably think of the guy who got caught in the crossfires of their son's actions just bit the dust of a teenage prank and leave it at that. But if anyone dared to touch a hair on their son's head, the entire egging incident is overlooked. All of a sudden the victim becomes part of a witch hunt by angry mobs of parents who have no time to deal with their kids. The parents who feel their kids can do as they please. Those kinds of parents who say "it was just an egg" fail to see the bottom line.

The bottom line being, no egg equals son still alive or unharmed. Egg equals dead son or seriously hurt son. How hard is it to understand that concept? We should live without worrying about teens getting gunned down over pranks. But we should also live without fear of getting our property vandalized or assaulted by an egg...am I right?!

Life, property, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness don't just tie into the life part. The pursuit of happiness and property mean we should live without fear of vandalism.

90% of the reason I had to get a brand new paint job was because of dents and the discoloration of the paint as well as cracking of the paint in several locales from the egg. If it came down to choosing some punk living or facing the pied piper because I lost 3 grand out of pocket expenses...well I have a living to make and 3 grand means weeks and weeks of hard labor because some punk wanted to be funny...I would care less about him living.

The thing that bothers me is the stupid mother putting all the blame on the shooter (who... I think I'm safe in saying this, does not seem like a stable member of society) instead of looking back and saying, "wow, I should have disiplined my child better, and he wouldn't have been out putting himself in a situation where he'll get shot at." Many of the parents that I come into contact with or read about are completely unwilling to take responsibility for their kids. That's what parents do!

QFMFT!!!:nice:

The bottom line should have been that the kid got the **** beat out of him, not killed.

You put me or my family in harms way, and yes, ill kill someone. you cant just go shooting people for dumb **** like this. a paintjob or a bruise to the face is not worth anothers life. punish him in a way where he will LIVE the rest of his life not forgetting it. Not end his life and teach him nothing.

It's unfortunate that something, which I'm sure seemed relatively harmless to the teens at first, escalated to a deadly and tragic end. I'm not condoning egg throwing or any foolish juvenile act, but I think most of us are guilty at some time or another in our youth of doing something we're not exactly proud of. Hey, it always sucks to be on the receiving end of a prank, but to turn around and enact vigilante style justice with deadly force merits the full penalty of the law. That ass**** deserves the 80 years if you ask me. Now I fully agree that the teens probably deserved a nice beating, but to pull out a gun in a cowardly fashion and end someones life was unjustified. I do have to draw the line when it comes to acts such as throwing a concrete block off a bridge. Those I don't consider pranks, but intents to hurt and/or kill, and anyone guilty of that probably deserves death.

Hmmm... Throwing eggs at moving vehicles. If that egg got on the windshield of that guys car and he flew off the road and died, I bet many people here would be wanting to charge the 15 year old with murder.

I'm completely apathetic on this one. Stupid is as stupid does, or so Gump's mother says. So the act of throwing eggs at moving vehicles is dangerous and stupid. So that means the 15 year old was in fact... STUPID. I'm for amputation of limbs and tongues of stupid people, but they were only young teens.

Apathy. Nothing else. :)
