Whats the best thing to do to my mustang?

First thing I would do would put on a full bassani exhaust (Headers, O/R X, Catback) with a set of MILs. Then get a CAI, TB and plenum. After you get used to all that, get your supercharger put on.

Think about what you want to do and map out a strategy. A lot of people will say get this and get that, but take a step back and get a plan together.
Don't get the 4.10s if you know that you are going to get a supercharger down the road. The 3.73s are fine for a little street racing and if you do a little highway driving, they won't have your RPMs that high as the 4.10s and they will help you save gas. Alot of people will vouch for the 4.10s but, my fiance (who has an 04GT) and myself (02GT),were interstate cruising in the 80+mph range. RPMs were above 2000, I can't imagine what they would be like with the 4.10s. I like my RPMs reasonable and gas ain't cheap. I would love to have that 4.10 punch around town and from light to light, but I'm into longevity and a little street. :D

Don't just slap on a catback, because different catbacks compliment or hurt the X or H pipe sound. Plus think about long terms, if you decide to get an X-pipe, remember that you are going to get a supercharger, so the best thing for the supercharger is the LTs. If you get the LTs, then you are going to have to change your X-pipe again. So you don't want to get 4.10s and have to change to 3.73s and then get a mid pipe and then have to change that again also. You'll save a lot of time and money by thinking things out. Learn from others and like myself that have installed parts and said later, "Damn. I wished I would've", or "I knew I should've." :bang: I bought a set of JBA shorties for a good price and bought the UPR O/R X. I want to get LTs, so now I'm going to have to change out the X-Pipe again.

From the exhausts that I've heard, Bassani X sounds good with Magnaflow and SLP Catbacks. UPR and Dr. Gas sound great with Mac Catback or Flowmaster Catback. :nice:

But what the hell, make it loud and drive the hell out of it.

What you should do to your car all depends on how you drive, when you drive it, and how often you drive it. I recommend gears also, it's one of the best bang for your buck mods you can get. Generally they say if you're going with FI you want 3.73s.. but there are people with FI that run 4.10s, so don't fear the gear. I also recommend exhaust, you won't gain a lot of horse power unless you do some drastic exhaust (LTs) but it's worth it just because of the sound :nice: If it's a 5-speed definately check into a short throw shifter... there's a couple brands that make them, but it doesn't really matter.. they all seem to be good.

lover has some good tips but 4.10's on the highway didn't change my mileage all that much and city driving didn't change at all...that's if you can resist putting it to the floor all of the time. At 80 my RPM's at at 3 grand...higher yes but not all that bad as far as wear and tear as most people would want you to believe. Think about 4 cylinder cars. My Probe cruises above 3 grand at 75 and it has 160k miles now so running at a higher RPM isn't wearing your car as long as you maintain it. I have 140K miles on the Stang and still going strong. Mine seems to run more efficiently at a little higher RPM plus you are out of the "drone zone" if you have an aftermarket exhaust.

Most people do go with 3.73's if they plan on supercharging but unless you plan on it real soon then like me you would get more bang out of the 4.10's (not saying 3.73's are a bad choice either). I'd like to supercharge one day but it's been nearly 4 years with my car and unless you have alot of bucks to throw around you may wind up sticking with what you have. I will say this about gears...my car used to drop dead at 4500 rpms...and that is not much of a usable range for this gear. Now that I have swapped the intake (you don't need that...you already have the PI) and put my cams in I've gained another 1000 rpms of usable power so now the gear is much more efficient.

Thanks yall. Im most probably going to get the 4:10 gears. I was iffie about getting them because I have to make practical use out of the car as well. I was worried about my gas mileage but oh well :D I have another question, How do I tell which transmission I have? Im getting ready to order a short throw shifter and I can't figure out which transmission I have. Im thinking that it might be the T3650 but im not sure.

Yeah you are correct about saving up the money to get a supercharger. It does take a while if you don't live with mommy and daddy that has a lot of money or you have a good damn paying job. I've been saving and buying parts for my 89 GT for about 5 years. I got a supercharger and heads and all those goodies, but damn it took a while. The misc. shyt is what'll get ya. :nonono:

If you got money to get a supercharger and all those goodies, the money for getting another gear swap shouldn't be a problem. :D

That 3.73 vs 4.10 debate has been going on since EVE bit the apple. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. Like the other guy said, it's going to depend on your driving also. I know how my foot is so I know I don't need the 4.10s, although I'm thinking about getting them. I've heard the underdrive pullies will help bring the 4.10s down a bit. Don't know how true it is but I'm definitely getting the pullies. I may just get the 3.90 gear. :D

I thought about the 3:90's also. Anyone know where there is a video of those gears on a mustang? LOL I should probably get the 3:73's because of my foot  Im new to my car so my foot is constantly in it.
3:90's are a good choice...I don't think FRPP makes any though.

Oh...wanna race? :D

Go with the 4.10's I run them and I am S/C, don't fear the gear. You need to know when your car was built (i.e. early model year or late model year.) Ford switched trannies mid-year early=T-45 late=TREMEC. My '01 stang was built in august '00 it has the T-45. Above all think long and hard about what you wan't your stang to do. When adding power and changing gears don't forget you have to get it to the pavement(i.e. suspension work) or it's all for not.

I would do a full exhaust system with long tubes. That way your not a dummy like me and have to switch mid-pipes. Or go with gears.

The whole 3.73's vs 4.10's thing is a joke. Those without gears are worried about choosing between the two because they hear this and that, but they are no big deal. Once you get em you will see there is nothing to fear. That's why people say don't fear the gear. 4.10's are not bad, especially if you have a newer 01 and up. I have the older style with the t45 and I want 4.30's!

How are you set on preventitive maintenance? Every single fluid changed well before the recommended interval, plugs, PCV valve, fuel filter, etc?

What about cleaning? Have you waxed the paint under the hood scoop? Have you removed the battery and cleaned all the crap out that was underneath it? Did you remove the rear seat and clean out the crap underneath that? Have you taken your wheels off and detailed them one by one?

I would put this stuff ahead of mods... These are all things I have done and they keep the cars value up plus are usually cheaper than mods.

Also while you are doing these things you can reflect on what mod you will eventually do when you are ready.
