During the American Revolution, the hated British employed many people to work for them, thereby supporting the local economy. That does not make it right, or the best thing for America. Today those people who sold out are remembered as traitors. There's a bit of difference between building trucks and war, but not really... this is just economic war. Go tell the head honchos at Ford and GM that they're not in an economic war with Toyota, that it's just friendly competition, see what they say.

Its very hard to find any vehicles that dont share parts with another Manufacturer, if you asked the head of GM about Toyota he would tell you that GM and Toyota Products are coming right off the same Assembly Line at the NUMMI Plant in CA and have been for many years.

The NUMMI plant in California is one minor alliance that has never meant very much to GM. It has blessed GM with the Geo Prizm, and now the Pontiac Vibe. Not exactly top sellers for GM, and I guarantee GM would gladly trip over itself to shut that plant and deep-six the Vibe if it meant getting Toyota out of the US market. Not that it would ever happen, but they would if they had the choice.
This is supposed to be a forum supporting Mustangs, Fords and domestic cars in general. I can't for the life of me figure out why so many are leaping to Toyota's defense when they are the mortal enemy of Ford and GM. Maybe all the Toyota lovers should sell their Mustangs and go buy a Celica with a 4 inch coffee can tailpipe. :nice: That'd be PHAT, SICK and TIGHT, dude, totally!

I still say stick to F-150. ive seen the crash testing. The chassis bent on the ram and tundra. on the f-150, it stayed perfectly stiff. I was honestly impressed. Check it out for yourself on youtube. i cant give the link, im in school and they have stupid block things.

Anything will go down hill if not maintained.

The new tundra truck is real nice. Rides smooth and has power. For a daily driver truck in a city/suburb style setting I am sure it would be great. Also a new F-150 truck is a great truck. I have ridden in both and driven both and both are very fine trucks to me. The modular motor will last a good long while in the F-150. That is a proven fact they can. If I was going to buy a new full size gas truck it would be either of the two. I like the looks on the Ford a touch better and the interior of the Toyota better. Its a toss up between the two for me.

I am sure I will get flamed for this but the one I would stay away from is the GM twins. My brother is a die hard GM truck guy. He currently has an 02 2500 biggest gas motor truck. To me its a steaming pile of ****. Electric problems out the ass. No power for such a big motor, and rides like a mini van. He also had a late 90's z71 pickup. I wasn't to high on it either. We have test drove a few 1500's over the years as well and I never liked any of them. Recently went on a trip to NJ to pick up some stuff and rented a suburban. The ride in the passenger seat was ok, but driving it wasn't good.

With that said if I am going to do any hauling its going to be a F-250 diesel. Its that plain and simple. Those are work horse trucks.

Coming from an F250 owner...

Buy the one you want the most, that suits your needs. Don't listen to what manufacturers say, obviousely they plan to hype what they have vs what others have.

Also to the guy building up the box frame, trucks have been using C channel frames forever. My F250 has a C channel frame and I have no fear of it being "weak".

oh well with everything said and done i bought the Toyota! so i guess time will tell if i made a good choice or not! besides i will only keep it 4 years and buy another new one! so if its not a good truck i will buy something different next time! but if it is a good truck i will definitely look at buying another one! ill let ya know in 4 years! LOL . my new truck is not a work truck or anything like that ! its for going to work and coming home! pulling the sleds and trailer and the camper in the summer! James

Sounds to me like you think that since we like Mustangs and domestic muscle in general that we should blindly follow and buy nothing but domestic vehicles without question.

I have owned a 95 4runner for 5 years. During the first two years I owned it, I drove a Ford Ranger for work. For vehicles in the same basic class, ranger/explorer vs. tacoma/4runner my Toyota beat the Fords hands down. It wasn't even a competition. There were a number of times I had to drive my 4runner because the Ford was broken down.

So, when someone says somethine like what you said, my response is, "When the domestics start acting like they want my business, I'll consider them." Until that time, Toyota has proved itself to me, and I'll stay with them until they give me a reason not to.

a main reeson i dont by foreign vehicles like nissan toyota or honda, is that even though they may be built in america they dont allow unions in their factories. i think it is total bs. also if japan allow american cars for sale in japan then maybe i would also consider purchase of one.

i think people are harder on the domestics than the imports. Classic story. guy had a domestic car for a while and it broke down a few times, gets a toyota, and is blown away because it never has a problem. Great. So the domestics dont know anything, and toyota and honda are the best.

but when the import breaks down (alot of guys dont know its only a matter of time) they just say "oh well its still more reliable than that old POS ford i had..."

Ive grown up on fords, so i bleed blue, but im not naive enough to think that any one company is better than the other in terms of reliability, espeically today. Does anyone agree that it really doesnt matter anymore? the technology is so good on these cars that IF YOU TAKE CARE OF THEM they will last a million miles.

Im sure the 5.7L V8 in the new tundras can go a million miles if properly maintained. The frame on the other hand....well....resembles frame technology from the big three's trucks from the 80s and 90s. Do those last a million miles? Nope. Does toyota want you to think it will so they get your money? Yup. Theyll do just about anyhting. I wanna see the automatic masturbators come out of the steering column!!!

How old are you ? and have you ever worked in a union shop? i have ! its not that they dont allow a union! no one can say a union is not allowed! it is a vote put to the workers! the workers keep the union out ! why you ask ? because they pay them as much as or more than a union shop! my brother in law works at Toyota and they pay him almost 30$/hr! there for.. there is no need for a union! why pay union dues if you dont need to? my union dues are somewhere in the range of around 100$ a month or over that depending on how much overtime i work! i know this for a fact i am a member of the C.A.W!! you could work at McDonald's and if a union comes there and tries to organize the workers and they have a vote and its the majority that want a union then there will be one! the company can say no all they want but if its put to a vote and the workers want one they will get one! for for you to say that they dont allow a union and that , that is B.S you should know what your talking about before spilling your verbal diarrhea! :nice: :nice: :rlaugh: Now with that all said ... you will have to excuse me ... i have to go watch Montreal pound the Bruins into submission! .... GO HABS !!

obviously you have drove nothing but fords in your life, ive owned 6 mustangs an explorer, and a honda accord, the honda was the most relaible car I have owned, always started up the first time, I cant say that about any of the fords Ive had, even the explorer which we had since I was 6! My parents bought a new trailblazer when I was 15 and it is an awesome car, far far better than the explorer, and thats not from a biased opinion, ive driven the new exploders and expeditons and everything, and this one takes em all, handling, hp all man..

as far as the new tundra goes its extremely tough, and rides awesome!! I dont like the looks but however it is one beast of a truck!!

Dont get me wrong i love the fox stangs but I would also drive (and have driven) vettes and f bodys....

Ford had more models at the top of JD Powers last summer than Toyota. There was a new article last week that says Ford is "second to none" in quality.

Yeah, I guess Ford's just playing around, they're not serious at all. :bs:
Have you driven a NEW Ford lately? Not just spun an F-150 around the block with a salesman chattering in your ear?
As for experience, try this on. My first 6 cars were Fords. (Well, 5 Fords and one Mercury, same thing.) They had minor problems, but never stranded me, I always made it home. Then I bought a Honda Accord. That POS gave me more trouble and cost me more $$ than the 6 Fords before it combined. It was in the shop for over a month one time. Bad tranny, broken headlights, (the pop-up kind) oil out the exhaust, oil in the air filter, and I babied that thing! Finally the Honda techs said I had a bad engine. I patched it up, shined it up, sold it at a huge loss, and ran away before the next guy tried to start it. So, every brand has their lemons.
My current Mustang is at 128,500 miles. I commute in heavy traffic, drive it like I stole it, take it to the track, drive it hard and put it away wet, and it still purrs like a new car. If Toyota can beat that, I'd like to see how.

Thank God they don't have unions. At least someone will be able to afford to employ the American workers that are displaced by the unions sucking the US automakers dry. The UAW is going to be the death of GM and Ford.

I have driven a Diesel F-350. Not mine, but I really liked it. I'm pretty sure I said in an earlier post, that when I decide to buy a truck, it will either be a Toyota or a Ford. So, don't think I'm completely writing Ford off. But, by far, my best experience so far has been with Toyota.

So, every brand has their lemons.

Agreed, so why is it so hard for all these people here that "bleed blue" to understand that some of us have had more than our fare share of Lemons from the big three and have had better luck with foreign cars?

My current Mustang is at 128,500 miles. I commute in heavy traffic, drive it like I stole it, take it to the track, drive it hard and put it away wet, and it still purrs like a new car. If Toyota can beat that, I'd like to see how.

I don't know if it beats it, but my Toyota is doing the same things your ford is, but it has 50,000 more miles. It's not a sports car, but I still drive it harder than the average Toyota driver. My Mustang has 128,000 miles on it too. I love it for different reasons, and I'd have an equally hard time parting with either vehicle. My Toyota is the more reliable of the two though.

If the big three can play on your emotions and patriotism to make a few extra dollars, they will do it in a heart beat. They use it the same way Toyota uses their "longevity." I think you'd all do well not give any one of these auto makers your business unconditionally, but that's definitely your choice.

well came home from work early! going to wash and shine up the truck and take some purrty pics of her! will post them later on! thanks for being patient! then my next project is to clean up my sled and get the mustang out of her corner and wash her up to! will post pics later on! James:nice:
