Bumper Grill insert, why isn't this factory/OEM?

Bought the insert from American Muscle for $80 or so, installed this morning in approx 30 seconds. I wonder why this isn't an actual OEM part, why the huge gap exposing the lower radiator?

Anyways, it looks much better and "completes" the front bumper. Sorry, I know it's dirty but it's been raining lately.

I have one to protect the heat exchanger for my intercooler. I think a replacement heat exchanger is like $600, so $80 to protect it seemed like a good idea.

Looks good. Got my new 2011 GT 5.0 Prem Convertible last week and after driving mostly around town the lower radiator/condenser is full of bugs and already one small pebble ding on the radiator down there. They need to make a bug screen or something to fill in that lower gap. I'm afraid it's going to be like my old 91 GT with the glass fog lamps where every rock on the road dings down there (and broke those old lamps like crazy). I can see needing a new condenser every few months without something to protect it from the rocks and bug guts.

Looks great and I agree that it should be there for more protection but, Ford has a very bad habit of designing their cars to be cooled from the bottom vs the center grill so I assume for them to cut costs and leave that area open makes more sense to them.
