:nonono: Sigh.....

How is it I see one thing, and everybody else sees something different?

I like(d) the 3rd set best.

After careful consideration however, I'll concede to the masses,..partially.

I still will have two red digital gauges that will need to be integrated back into the design. ( a boost ga., and the innovate AFR ga.)

That said,..maybe the first one will be better able to accommodate those two gauges w/o so much clash?

#1 looks animated not cartoonish but computer screen-ish
#2 after looking again it appears, well, belly-button-ish don't like it now
#3 vintage
After further review I think #1 works for the monster

Has anybody really looked at my interior?

It's full of stained, antiqued cow hide with all kinds of natural scuffs, nicks, barb wire cuts, and tick bites that came "as-is" w/ a "distressed" hide. All capped off with a wood rimmed steering wheel. How much more "old timey" can you get? I chose that on purpose. I think that the interior can actually support the " antique" nature of the 3rd gauge set for that reason.

But.....I asked for opinions...and I am somebody that follows the advice of the hive more often than not...
Regardless,...I still have time. My birthday is still a ways off. My mind changes daily.

Just like right now,..between this reply, and this edit 5 minutes later...I'm gonna dump the boost, and AFR gauges...I never look at them anyway.

You know what, now that you reminded me of the theme of the interior, you're right. I'll change my vote to #3 simply because it fits the theme. I should have gone back a few pages to remind myself of the details of the interior. My laziness got the best of me and I just went with what I like out of the 3 choices. Sorry about that Mike.

P.S. I think you should at least keep the AFR gauge or get different one to match which ever instrument cluster to end up going with. Its one of those things thats good to keep an eye on in realtime when things start acting weird while driving. Just my opinion. :hide:

Yep. The monster just screams early Victorian. :O_o:

I'll change my vote to the 3rd set only if you wear a velvet robe and ascot when you take it to shows. :)

I think #2 just fits the Monster the best as a whole. You have a stainless shift knob, stainless cup holders, and those gauges tie into that. Plus, I think they have a vibe that goes with the exterior of the car also. Despite your "King Ranch" type interior, you have some modern touches that #2 ties to.

Edit: Please for the love of whatever you believe in, dont swap one set of 80's digital for another set of new age digital. #1 shouldnt even be an option. You can pull off #3 based on your cow hides, but #2 seriously fits the bill.

Meh,....shows what you know.

The number 1 gauge set that you hate when it's illuminated?.....
nvu-68253-01_oh_xl-jpg.591150.jpg

Looks like this in the daytime:
NVU-68253-01_xl.jpg

For whatever reason, summit has these gauges displayed over several skus,...and made it very confusing as to what the differences are...After doing some digging, they have the kits in mph, kph, standard night lighting, and the translucent versions, and seperately itemized with 4 different fuel level sender impedance calibrations.

So,...Nyaah!:p

Fair enough. At least they look good during the day.

So....back on track.

The take away as to whether or not Mike's Stepchild HD evac canister works or not is......

No, it does not. MOF it's actually worse than the previous puke tank w/ a breather on it. The junk assed secondary air injection valves that are now mounted in my exhaust not only did not create a vacuum as a result of being mounted in my exhaust stream,..they actually obstructed the vent process to the tune of forcing a valve cover gasket out of the engine.

I drive the car to a friends shop about 20 miles to the north if me. The car drove beautifully on the interstate...(60 psi of oil pressure, 150 degrees water temp, 14.1 volts charging going...for a moment, I actually thought I was in "Carvana"...
When I got off the ramp,..I ran the car into boost,...the engine immediately rattled.

I figure..."Great,...I'm probably now sucking oil into my intake tract................Perfect!"

I get to his shop,..I pop the hood,..and there is oil spray all over the firewall where the VC gasket has pushed out of the engine. It's actually tore.

Did I mention that this valve cover gasket isn't available in the United States?...How much more perfect is it now?

That leaves me w/ no choice but to use RTV to seal the engine....I use the grey stuff.

While the VC is off,...and since I'm on the subject, I tell my friend about the rampant detonation..he asks what I've got the plugs gapped at....Uhhhh .030, maybe .032..

Too wide for a stock ignition to fire under boost...lets close that down about .020...

So I do.

I put the VC back on...now that I know that my evac system doesn't work,...I remove the two hoses that we're going down to my exhaust pipe, and just let the engine vent into the engine compartment out of the -10 fittings that the hoses used to be hooked to. I plug the PCV that I bought specifically for this thing...

I start the engine,...mild engine vapor wafts out of the two fittings, and the hole on top of the canister where the PCV valve used to be plugged into.

I head for home...I drive like a normal person.

Once I get close to home, I unlock the converter, and floor it in 4th gear....

It rattles.

I swear to god...I'm gonna do one of three things here...

I'm gonna remove the turbo, and drive the car N/A...reconfigure a PCV system and drive the car.

I'm gonna not get the gauges as a birthday gift, and get a snow cooler instead..and inject water meth into my 11:1 compression, open chamber headed detonation magnet...

I'm gonna convert the damn thing over to drink E85, and force feed this thing some Iowegian Corn Lickuh.
